Hi,
I am working on an AMI model K that I bought at an online auction about a month ago.
Noticed that the turntable socket on the junction box is always hot (or "on") independent of the power switch. The manual doesn't show a schematic or wiring info.
Just wondering if there is a reason for the turntable socket to be wired this way? I'm thinking of re-wiring it so that all of the sockets on the junction box turn on/off with the power switch.
Thanks,
Bill

Hi Bill, Don't sound write,er,rite,--- ah, correct, to me- Most of the "domestic" AMI's, had the amp hot at all times, but the TT motor-- why would it need to run with the power switch off, unless there is another switch in series, that would shut it off after the record "now playing", was over ? Should show that in the schematics in the Service Manual ?? Ron Rich

Hi Bill, The power switch should kill the AC circuits but not the DC circuits as originally wired. You are correct, there isn't usually a schematic in the manuals but one thoughtful person traced it out and posted it here www.west.net/~jay/jukebox/amijunction.htmlWhen the jukebox is at rest the turntable motor shouldn't run, its power is switched through cam switch 1. Attza whut I thunked-- the TT pug should remain "hot", as the # 1 cam switch "takes care" of that. BTW-- The schematic for those early models was blown up, and pasted to the inside of the rear door ! Ron Rich

Hi guys, thanks for the comments.
Curiously, the way my junction box is wired (appears factory) is that the 2-pin TT labeled AC circuit is always on, like the DC on the 4 pin connector.
Anyway, I'm just going to leave it alone, not plug anything into the TT outlet, leave a "warning" note to myself on the junction box, and the location where this will be installed has a switch controlled outlet, so power will be removed from the jukebox when not in use.
Thanks again.
Bill
