Hi I have an otherwise excellent Rowe RI-3 jukebox, but was wondering how I enable the unnumbered selections at the bottom of the middle row, they are 108/208, 118/218, etc. At some point they were working, but not now. Picture is on the left in my profile (newbie user). Thank you for any advice.
Also, I am looking for the right mid/tweeter speaker for this model, numbers on the right are 3-08530-001/719047 If you have one, please let me know!

By extra selections, do you mean the twenty records that you can put in the (200 selection) carousel for which there are no title strips (160 selections)?
Norman.

If you look at my profile picture, there are four slots at the bottom of the middle row. I have two numbered 108/208 and 118/218. Previously I was able to put records in those slots and they would play. However, it does not work any longer. I am not sure why. I hope that's clear.
Or perhaps I am asking is it possible to get the 8/9's to play?
Note I would upload the picture, but am unable to do so by the forum.

I am not familiar with this model-- Is this a 100,160, or 200 select model ? Ron Rich

I also am quite unfamiliar with this jukebox. It's a 160 select with a 200 carousel. I understand that it can be easily converted to a 200 select by moving a diode on the pricing board - but I don't know how obvious that change actually is. If it previously played selections above 160, it would suggest that the diode had already been relocated - maybe check the pricing board to see if there is any evidence of this and check the diode itself?
Norman.

Hi Norman, That's what I was thinking-- a long time ago, I had one that needed to be changed, one way or the other-- My great, but not too long memory says a diode went in, or came out, to configure between a 160/200 mech. I'm 90% sure, this is covered in the Service Manual-- but then again, it may be in the shop manual ? Ron Rich

I actually asked the same question about my RI-3 a year and a half ago, and amiman66 was kind enough to answer. You need to cut or de-solder the diode in position CR333 or CR334 on the pricing board to enable those 20 records on the computer. In mine, I wired a switch in series with one end of the diode, so that the user could pick whether they wanted to have the "secret selections" or not, as there is not room on the rack for the extra title strips. jukeboxaddicts.proboards.com/thread/703/ri-3-100-records

Bingo, unsoldering the diode in CR334 was the ticket! I now have 200 plays, so I nice "secret menu" of 40 more selections! Thank you wdln! c

My pleasure. Although not for the purist, you could probably design some doubled-up title strips for 20 of the slots so the selections would be listed with the other title strips. The font would have to be small, though. I teach at a local college, and brought my RI-3 to a student lounge there (don't worry... it's operating in free play mode). I enabled the extra 20 records and implied to a student that there were some secret selections not listed on the title strips. I walked in the next day and found her listening to the hidden records, using her iphone and Siri to identify the songs, and writing them all down along with the selection numbers!
In the previous generation mechanically-driven Rowe-AMI jukes, disabling those 20 records was done by putting a metal sleeve behind the 8 and 9 buttons that simply prevented them from being pressed (the 8 and 9 buttons were also blank). Everything else in the mech is ready to accept and select songs from 100 records. I recently restored an 80-record MM-6 and converted it to 100 records for its new owner. All I had to do was remove the metal sleeves and label the buttons. Unlike an RI-3, there was room (and mounting points) for two more title strip racks under the glass, which I found on ebay. The spaces for them were covered up by decorative cardboard. Pretty ingenious that the manufacturing differences between an 80 and 100-record model were kept so simple and cheap.

David,
If you are running a jukebox, for "free",anywhere except your own personal space, you are in violation of the law-- also, any "jukebox" must be licensed by the JLO in the USA.
