Hi all: in final stages of going through 100J. it get a loud 60 cycle hum through the amp when the trip coil energizes at the end of a record. when tripped manually no hum. trip to load no hum,(assume because amp is muted). I changed the coil thinking that was shorted, same problem. I get a feeling it is some kind of grounding issue or a bad cap, even though the amp and wsr have been recapped. Thanks in advance. Mark

"MB" check that the shields of both the pickup and mute cable are floating with respect to the mechanism. That is they show no continuity to the mech -only their respective ground points at the amp.

Hi Mark, If not a problem in the shields-- What is the resistance reading of the trip/detent coil ? What amp is installed in that phono ? Where is the "hum-pot" grounded ? Is the cap (.01--I think ?) installed across the reject plug in the WSR ? Check the mechanism plug ground all the way to the mech screw--izit tight ? Ron Rich

So sorry I did not let you all know I found the problem. it was a broken wire at the mute plug. thanks again! Mark
