Hi! Our 484 has a loud bass-y hum....sometimes. It blocks out all actual music. Sometimes When I smack it it will stop, or if I fiddle with the amplifier plug in doohickey or volume control connector it will quit and the music can be heard. There is no rhyme or reason to when it will or will not show up...or go away.
Another issue is that the arm will sometimes pick up the album from the turn table.to return...but sometimes it won’t.
As I’m sure you’ve all gathered..... I’m a real mechanical genius, so if someone could break down the problem or link me too possible replacement parts I’d appreciate it. The manual is actually still inside the unit...but unfortunately I am unable to decipher the hieroglyphics that all the genius electricians and engineers can read. So the most dumbed down advice the better!
Thank you so much for your help. We almost threw it out because of frustration. We bought a building that used to be a jukebox/pinball/pool table business and this was one of the many that were left behind! With this came over 3000 45’s...that we’d actually like to hear. 🤣

OK-- don't know how much "help" one can give you, but I'll try-- First--Find, or purchase, a piece of sheet music, and feed it to the RockOla, when it's "humming"-- It just lost track of the music it wanted to play ! 2nd. LUBRICATE that mechanism-- especially the gripper arm section-- see the sticky post above. 3rd. It sounds as if the hum is a poor connector-- that you will need to "hunt down" and tighten--most likely it's a "ground connection" within the amplifier section. I suggest you start by un-plugging, and re-plugging all connectors (with the power OFF !)Ron Rich
