I have a few issues that I wish to resolve. I am just beginning to try and resolve these issues and have limited knowledge of the Jukebox world thus far. I have a Rockola Princess 1493.
1. I purchased 10 half dollar coins in order to stop constantly opening the machine to press the free play button. At the moment 1 half dollar (or quarter even) plays just 1 track. I purchased the service manual and that advised me to change the credit mechanism ratchet. I have moved it from one extreme to the other and it still gives just 1 credit. So I could do with some advice from more seasoned Jukebox people and I'll have to go back to the service manual and try and get my head around it a bit more.
Possibly other minor niggles. I will gradually get around to fixing these all. Thanks for the advice given so far to others.

Hi Scott, What it "probably" means is that the wiring on the coin switches has been swapped so that the a half dollar advances the master ratchet (1 credit). It's maybe possible that the half dollar switch is connected to the quarter ratchet and the ratchet has been set to minimum (I just cannot remember whether the adjustment allows going down to 1) so that may be worth a look first on the basis that it's easy! Otherwise it would be a case of relocating the wiring at the coin switches. How are your soldering skills? Norman.

Yeah I will have a closer look at the credit mech. I had a feeling that it might have had a mod at some stage. Yeah I can get the soldering iron out if necessary.
Thanks norman.

Hi Norman et al, Below is an image of my credit mech that looks like it has been modified. Can you shed any light on what I need to do? Thanks Scott

Hi Scott, Nothing springs out with regards to modifications on the credit unit. From the pictures, it's not possible to see the position of the adjustment ratchets - which if they are not at minimum - would suggest that the half dollar coin switch is connected to the master ratchet and this is why it's producing only one credit. You need to look at the coin switches which is where modifications generally get done - wires cut or relocated.
Norman.

Hi Scott, What's your objective-- do you want "free play", or do you want to max out one coin play ---or multi coin play ? BTW--If you can make that machine play "one track", you are doing much better then most, as there were no "tracks" available on most 45's ! LOL Ron Rich

Hi Ron,
Yes I would like to drift away from free play and max up the coin credits.
I should have chosen my terminology a touch better.
Thanks Scott

Hi Scott, Going from my great, but not too long memory--I think the "credit wheel" is spring loaded in the "add play direction" and the individual coin switches release it against individual stops. Operating it by hand show show you if I'm correct, and should show you what's not happening correctly-- I believe the manual covers this operation in detail. Ron Rich
