Hi All
I’m having some selection issues on my Rowe Ami MM4. I had it playing for about six hours straight the other night and at the end of a selection it stopped working. I went to make another selection and the buttons won’t stay in.
When turning on the jukebox, the carousel doesn’t spin like it normally would. And the latch relay isn’t activated to hold the buttons in. Basically acting like it is out of credits. The wipers on the credit unit have been cleaned and on free play mode. One point to note is I tested the 30V rail on the credit unit and it’s only returning 27 to 28V. May this be insuffiecient to activate the R1 relay?
When I have it turned on, I can manually press the R1 relay and it will activate the search unit and play the last song we listened to.
Any one seen this before? Thanks so much Ben

Hi Ben, It does sound as if you don't have credit! How has free play been done, might it simply be the case that the credit unit wiper has wound down to zero? Is there a credit light that's lit? Norman.

Thanks Jukenorman,
It turns out that the selection mech may have been a bit jammed... I gave it the slightest tap with my finger and a heard a click. Switched it back on and now the latch solenoid is activating and allowing me to make a selection.
Now I have an issue where I make the selection and the selection wiper is just spinning and not stopping. Perhaps an open switch somewhere or a faulty relay? I'm going through the schematic now and about to start a trace...

Connector on search unit? Search wipers OK? Dirty commutator boards in search unit? And of course, it might not be the search unit - it could be the button bank! Norman.

I think you're right Norman. I pulled the selection mech out of another MM4 I have and it works perfectly. So looks like I have a faulty button bank. I did a quick once over with the multi but a more thorough check is needed.
Thanks for your response. Ben
