While searching to an solution to the humming my amp is making I have found others that are having the same issue and limited parts to rebuild these amps I found the following item for sale at victory glass:
Part Number 80-4527 $175.00 RO# 45730-A NEW AMPLIFIER
(eBay listings claim it fits an 442/443.
Other than the required rewiring and connectors would this work as an replacement on my Rockola 478. I would assume the output would be about the same.

Keith, Even though it may never have been used it is NOT, "new" ! Sitting on a shelf. the caps, and other things, deteriorate, maybe even faster, then if being used-- Don't know if interchangeable ?? Ron Rich

Hi Keith, I didn't think these amps were that bad! Maybe I'm missing something? There is a "custom" IC but it can be replaced by a dual 741 op amp. There are some PECs but the internal component values are shown on the schematic so you could fabricate your own if need be - although I seem to recall Jukebox Revival in Holland having some for sale. That other amp would definitely not be a direct replacement although I daresay you could make it work OK. I think if I genuinely had your concerns, I would be more inclined to buy another 52280 as back up. Norman.

I cannot find an 52280 anywhere. I contacted Jukebox Friday Nights, and was told he no longer will repair that amp due to parts issues. If you are talking about the ICs on the preamp board, yes I found that out this weekend with an off-the-shelf replacement from Micro Center that fixed one channel.

I bought a 52280 not that long ago to put in a 490 - the amp was missing and I couldn't find one so I used a 52280 instead. It was pretty cheap from ebay, one channel had a blown output transistor so an easy fix. The 52280 was used in quite a few models, maybe you just need some patience and one will turn up. I can't comment on Jukebox Friday Night - maybe if you fix amps for a living, work around solutions are not cost effective? Norman.

Keith, Where's "anywhere" ? Did you try the used parts suppliers listed in our FAQ's section ? "The internet" is the last resort, as far as I'm concerned, for a jukebox amp ! ( See our Off topic, "scams" posts) Ron Rich
