Hi Everyone, I'm new to the site and not very experienced with Juke boxes so please be gentle . We've had our Rockola 459 for 30 years, other than servicing and routine bits and bobs its been bulletproof. Recently I decided to try and add a bluetooth receiver back to it so we could stream music as well as listen to the 45's. I tried a basic hookup through the board at the rear of the box and it sounded fantastic until the box was powered to show off the lights, when power was on there was a permanent hum from the speakers and it defeated the object. I then tried to use the mic input, which someone else said had worked well for them but all I got was bangs and pops? Following some research I came up with the idea of using a mic kit to splice in the bluetooth. The manual says it's a 2130 kit so I bought one, then realised I needed a coupler. I've got it all plumbed up but I'm reluctant to plug it in due to another problem! The coupler has a 9 pin plug but only 6 pins are used, however whilst the amp has the mirror connector it only has 5 pins inside it? My questions is do I have the right mic kit? If not what is the right mic kit or is the coupler I have wrong is there another one that I can't find? Alternatively has anyone else managed to add bluetooth or an aux input back to a Rockola of this age or setup? I wasn't able to add pictures in here so I've created the dropbox folder below, hopefully it will work. www.dropbox.com/sh/rzidfxxrkgqrxse/AACAdOsDH9WQJWFBG8bROnPUa?dl=0Picture linkThanks in advance Dan

Hi Dan, I dono-- I can only GUESS-- perhaps there were different arrangements of either the mic kit, or amp as used in different mode phono's-- ? Did you get any "paperwork" with the kit ? Plug it in and see what, if anything happens---Ron Rich

Hi Ron, Yes the mic kit came with a schematic and instructions and according to my Jukes manual the 2130 kit is the correct one. It just seems weird that the coupler would have 6 wires and the jukes plug only has 5. I'm reluctant to plug it in as 2 of the couplers wires apply voltage to capacitors in the amp and IO dont want to route that power through something sensitive and destroy it.
I've worked out and have researched that the couplers connections are:
Pin 1Black – Ground Pin 2 Orange & Red – Right Speaker Output Pin 3 Orange & White – Left Speaker Output Pin 7 Red Green – 51V Power Pin 8 Yellow & Blue – 3.5V? Pin 9 White & Green - ? No Clue
The plug on the board from a post on here is:
1 - black-yel (ground) 2 - orn-red 3 - orn-wht 4 5 6 7 - pink-blue (50v d.c.) 8 - yel-blu (squelch) 9
I'll load the 2130 schematic into the dropbox as it could help someone figure out what the white green wire is for.
Cheers Dan

Hi Dan, As far as I can tell, you have the correct kit. Looking at what you have loaded in your Dropbox, pins 2 & 3 on the coupler connection are essentially the same (right and left output from a mono microphone amplifier). So it is my guess that there is no connection at pin 3 on the amplifier socket (which is why you only have five wires there) - but I don't have a 459 manual so cannot check if the amp schematic shows that. Something for you to look at? I also don't see why you shouldn't connect it!
Norman.

My first Jukebox, a Rock-Ola 459. I hope this brings the solace you are searching for. Five connections are used in the nine pin plug. The drawing clearly depicts there connections. For reference: Tom Walker

I added bluetooth to my first juke, a Rockola 464. It is easy to tap the low level lines right before the volume pot. If I were to do it again I would add panel mount RCA jacks and hook it up similarly to what I did recently to my Wurlitzer Fuego. There's a small metal cover on the left of the amp that can be replaced with a new piece hosing the panel mount RCA connectors so you don't have to hack up anything original. (I like to make any mods like this reversible) See link below. Easy enough to splice into the wire for the mute relay as well. jukeboxaddicts.proboards.com/thread/2853/fitting-bluetooth-receiver-jukebox
