I have a Wurlitzer Fuego 1984 with a poor sounding left channel. Very low volume and poor sounding. I have narrowed it down to the left signal from the cartridge as feeding the right signal into the left input using jumpers and alligator clips makes the left channel perform fine. I'm wondering if a new stylus is likely to solve the issue or if it is more likely the cartridge? The connections on the back of the cartridge look good. Not sure what exact model the cartridge is. It is not pointed out in the manual and the flyer only states that it is a Shure magnetic. Looks like there might have been a sticker on the cartridge which is long gone.

Darren, If a Shure Mag. I would guess a needle problem-- read the impeadence of the coils--should be about the same reading ! Ron Rich

Thanks Ron. Does the reading have to be impedance or can it be resistance? I do not have a meter that does impedance here.

Hi Darren, Resistance will show you if you have any large difference-- Ron Rich

I'll check that tonight. New stylus is on order so I will revisit when it arrives.

I believe the issue is actually the tonearm wire. There is a break somewhere. Hard to track down because as the wire is moved around the broken wires touch and can give a good continuity reading again.
