Greeting to All, I'm sure this has been covered before but after multiple searches I have given up and just decided to ask the question. I am working on a V200 with cheap 8 ohm speakers in place of the 12" woofers. Now, I know this presents the wrong loading to the amp and is one of the reasons I would like to replace them. I remember reading that Jensen now has a vintage line that makes a good replacement speaker for this cabinet but couldn't find the thread. If someone knows of a great replacement speaker for this application I'd love to hear from you! Where's Jim A when you need him ? lol. Thanks, Mauro

Hi Mauro, I usually do not recommend this, but I just noticed a pair of originals up on ePay yesterday-- I know nothing about these in any way ! Jensens are being made in Italy. One or more of the suppliers listed above, in the FAQ's section sells them. Ron Rich

Hi Ron, Thanks for your response, I saw those speakers too but they have many holes and tears in the cone. I haven't had any luck with reconing in the past so my first choice would be to find a good pair of originals and second would be a highly recommended replacement. From past posts I know there are many considerations to choosing speakers so I thought I'd ask the wisdom here for their advice. Also, there will be a time when original replacements will become very scarce, so it would be good to have a post outlining picking a speaker and a recommendation for others who run into the same issue.

Hi Mauro, Basically, you may use anything Seeburg used to the LPC series phono's. All the same except for color they were painted. Didja check the suppliers listed in FAQ's above--Rick Murry MAY have a pair--Bill Butterfield may also have some, but he is closed for awhile due to the big fire in his area.I have had nothing but luck with re-cones--my re-cone guy retired a year so ago, but has sold his biz to another fellow, whom I have not used yet, but a friend of mine has, with great results. Mauro, I've used any of the Seeburg 16ohm including K-L-201-222 and even LPC although the later speakers beginning with the Q had higher free-air resonance. What matters is both efficiency and resonance. There is limited power and an undamped cabinet. The LPC speakers in a 201 I have are slightly more boomy due to their resonance point around 94Hz as opposed to the older types used V-K-201 which were in the 72Hz region. For new speakers, the Jensen retro line has suitable candidates: www.jensentone.com/vintage_alnico/p12r -I'd rate these spec's a closest to original. At higher resonance: www.jensentone.com/vintage_alnico/p12qwww.jensentone.com/vintage_alnico/p12nAll above have adequate efficiency. Note that these are demo'd for musical instrument use and have a wildly peaky upper-mid. This is of little consequence here as they will be fed via the Seeburg 12db crossover. Note also that you will have only the standard solder/spade tabs for connection. This may not matter since the original connectors are probably gone due to subs being used in your machine. RobNYC

Guys, Thanks for all the info, it's exactly what I needed. I'd like to find some of those spade adapters one day, thanks for telling me about them. So, I'll be looking for good original replacements and most likely will end up ordering the P12R-16 speakers from Jensen, I doubt if the more expensive models listed will sound any better? Thanks again, Mauro
