Hi Guys, New to the forum, just got my first jukebox to restore for my wife's CD collection. I got it for a great deal from an auction. It's in really good shape, but the lock is missing. I cannot figure out how to get the door open without it. I purchased a service manual and dug through there as well and no luck. I've tried sliding a flathead into the seam to pop the latch, and tried shimming it open. Does anyone have a trick to get into a Laserstorm Berkeley Wallmount? Attached link to some photos: photos.app.goo.gl/fcUBwnVneMmH9K6RAThanks, Rick

The locks on most Rowe-AMI jukes rotationally yank on a stiff wire attached to a spring-loaded latch. Looking at the manual pages you posted, looks like there's a short metal piece that hooked onto the wings on the back of the lock. You'd need to dig around through the hole and find that, perhaps with angled needlenose pliers, and pull up on it. Alternatively, maybe you could use pliers or a finger to slide the bar connecting the latches together upwards; it runs right next to the lock hole, towards the door.

Hi Guys, So I was able to get the jukebox opened and mounted. Working on the wiring now. It looks like it was set up for external volume control at one point as there was a bunch of cut cables on the terminal strip. I reconfigured it with the red and black cables that were disconnected and loose inside the box. I am getting really good sound out of the left side, but the right is very quiet (can only hear it if I disconnect the left). No overload warning on the right or anything. Did I wire this correctly? There is one less connection on the terminal plate than in the drawing, not sure if I need to shift things, but do not want to fry anything. And if so, where should I look next for troubleshooting?

You start with the WP-100 Service Manual-- Audio problems are usually diagnosed starting with the in-put--swap them--does the low side get loud ? If so, your DAC is probably bad. If not-- how about that control marked "balance" ? If still no switch, are your speakers set up right ? Try switching speaker connections-- Ron Rich

Hi Ron, thanks for the reply. Tried swapping speakers, cables, stepping the power to the speakers up and down, to no effect. Balance also does not seem to affect it. I am concerned about that terminal plate and how it does not match the drawing inside the machine. It has that double plate over White + White/Violet. Where in drawing it shows it on White/Violet + Violet. Blue is not used, so I am not so much concerned with it missing from my plate. I have the service manual and will include the block diagram of this section into the photo link pasted above. I am hesitant to change the terminal plate wiring (since I assume this thing was working before it was excessed to the auction), but if it won't hurt anything I will proceed.

I have the jukeboxmanuals.com version. It's the Laserstar Wallphono. Block diagram is in Vol. 2, page 5-6 "Block Diagram - Figure 5-1. LaserStar Wallphono Sheet 2

No Version listed on the cover, here is a link to the exact one I got: www.jukeboxmanuals.com/store/p1153/ROWE_LaserStar_WallPhono_Service%2C_Parts_Manual_w%2F_Troubleshooting_Guide_PRINT.htmlThanks, I figured as much, but thought it was strange to be mis-wired from the auction house. I guess I shouldn't be too surprised. There is no diagram in Vol 1 about initial setup, only diagrams on how to change it if you wanted remote/external volume control. Didn't think to look in Vol 2 until after your first reply. Used to doing arcade stuff and the wiring you get from those secondhand can be amazing. I will try moving things around after lunch. Thanks, Rick

Hi Rick, He copied the "inner cover" and used it as the main cover for his printing-- My original Rowe printed copy of Vol 1, shows a printing date of Oct 97-- my seventh printing of vol. 2, shows no date--

Thanks for your help Ron. That was indeed the problem. Rewired it and it sounds great.
In service mode I am only getting 1 error, 05-53 "Outer Cam switch always open". It does not seem to be affecting the motor operation and it loads/unloads discs fine. The wiring connection to the switch has a lot of play on the switch side (like the connection on the switch is loose). Manual suggests mech control, wiring, or bad switch, so I guess replacing the switch is the easiest solution?

Hi Rick, OK-- check that Micro Switch (see the sticky in our FAQ's section)-- also check/replace the fastoon-- I have seen them split, and loose contact. Clear the error and see if it returns afterword-- Ron Rich

Did some checking on the switch. Behaved normally putting continuity through it. Really wrenched the fastoon back on and cleared the error. Made some selections, power cycled it and so far so good, it hasn't come back. Thanks again for all your help. Now the tedious part of importing all my wife's collection into the software and printing out the title cards. She is very excited to have it working, it will be a great addition to the game room.
