Hi all, this is my first time on the forum, I’m not an expert on jukeboxes so please go easy on me if I say something stupid!
I have a 1958 Wurlitzer 2200 that I bought as non working and I have spent the last several weeks working on getting it going. I have succeeded in getting the selection sequence working and the juke will get all the way to lifting the record nearly into playing position. I say nearly because the last part of the lift arm travel is a violent clunk and the record is thrown out of where it should be. This happens to both lift arms.
I have checked to make sure that the lift arms can move freely between the record slots and they don’t seem to be snagging anywhere.
When I watch what is going on I can see that the main cam is not moving with the main gear the motor is connected to but is rotating and then hesitating just before the clunk.
One thing to note is that I have had the amp re-built with some new components and the selenium rectifier has been replaced with a bridge rectifier, I am getting 52 vdc non load, could this be too high? All of the relays and motors are working fine. One of my thoughts was that maybe the motor is running too fast and therefore throwing the arms up ( I told you I would say something stupid)
I can’t see anything broken or adrift and I have been staring at it for three days now, going very slowly crazy!
Any ideas, anyone?

Hi Colin, That Wurlitzer mechanism is quite clunky. You haven't said how much you have serviced the mechanical parts. It's a good idea on a machine that old that's been sitting for some time to remove the mechanism, clean off the old hardened grease, service the motor, re-grease liberally and then wind the mechanism manually to check it moves freely. There's not much finesse in that mechanism but it's extremely robust and reliable once serviced.
Norman.

Thanks for the reply Norman, I haven't thought about removing the mechanism as it looks clean, looks difficult as well! I did remove and service the motor. I have made a short video of what is happening, link below to YouTube. youtu.be/5OMYmhwV8tUHopefully you are right and it just needs cleaning and lubricating and not something broken. Colin

Colin, Looks "dry as a bone" to me !! OIL it !! Be sure to oil in the oil hole in the center of the basket-- oil both lift arms at all moving joints--and oil the clutch spring !! See our FAQ's section on oil--- Ron Rich

Ok, mystery solved! Geoff the Jukebox Man had a look at the video and suggested a problem with the clutch pawl. On close examination I could see that one of the leaf springs had snapped off, they’re just 2 pieces of high tensile metal that keep the pawl in position, one leaf was just not strong enough and the mechanism was slipping. After a search I found the broken piece in the bottom of the cabinet.
I think my main problem now is locating a replacement spare part, I am hoping that one of you guys who read this might be able help find one.
The part I need is 59537, the only thing going for me is that this part was used in all Wurlitzer jukeboxes from 1700 up to 3310 so maybe someone has a spare they will sell.
Colin 🤞
