Can anyone tell me if there is a difference between refinishing a jukebox or restoring a jukebox? Or are both terms used interchangeably?
Thanks; Pete

To me a restore means making it like new where a refurbish is somewhere short of that where you are at least getting it working and maybe taking on some cosmetic issues. That definition may be just mine. I tend to go for refurbish on these old machines (arcade games too). There's always going to be that next scratch or dent which renders the restore imperfect once again.

Thanks for the info. I am thinking about getting another jukebox for a project, but not sure of how far to go with it. Not sure how much time and money it would require. Would any project be worth taking a few years to complete? What if after all of the work, time and money spent the machine was not worth much? Or should that matter? Pete

Hi Pete, I would say that it "don't madder"--I got a Seeburg SMC-2 in the shop, which is perfect--inside, it has a new Gen 2, computer in it-- I doubt I'll get what I have in it, but I wanted "something to do"-- still needs some minor cabinet work-- will save that for the new owner LOL-- Ron Rich

Pete,
The worth of the juke only matters if you plan to sell. Otherwise it is just personal preference, your pocketbook, and time that determine how much you invest in a project. I always struggle with how far to take my projects but like I said I usually stop short of perfection. My custom builds however must be done to perfection.
