Greetings all. Ive got an STD3 that has stopped selecting songs. Credit switch does not work, coins do not register. I followed the procedure in Ron's microlog book. Checked the voltages and the -27 was -23.9, the other voltages were within spec. Bouncing between Ron's book and Tony's black and grey book, it was suggested to remove the pricing programmer board and I should have the select lights come on and be able to play a record. I pulled the pricing board and the select lights came on, but not able to select a record and have it play.
Could the low -27 be an issue? Where should i look next? All wiring seems to be in tact, I reseated all the connectors. The dcc board is a -2 edition.

Positively the -27 volt being -23 is THE issue--read my trouble shooting guide DCC notes--un plug the DTP and DRD and read the voltages--if still wrong, repair the DCC power supply board to specs. I mention in the Guide(Thanks for you purchase !). Ron Rich

I unplugged the DTP and DRD, raised the voltage to 25.5. Plugging in the DRD (after power down) Lowered voltage to about 24.8, the DTP brought it down to the 23.9 Not sure if that means anything really. I'll look into repairing the power supply board. Start with a cap kit?

By any chance-- have you replaced any of the "selection" lamps--if so, are you 100% sure you used only the correct # type ? Did you read the notes ? Ron Rich

I have not replaced any of the selection lamps recently or ever if I can recall. As far as notes, I read the parts about the lamps and he whole section in the DCC. Am I missing something else?

Project update... Ordered a cap kit. waited..... arrived today and installed it this evening. After installation, -27 read 26.5. Since that was in the tolerances, I was satisfied and tried to add credits. That was successful and the everything is now working as it should. Thanks Ron for all the help. I identified the one cap that I felt was the main offender, C09 I think.

Glad you got it-- I would strongly advise that you change all 4 of the diodes on that board that have the brown colored lines on them--use 1N4004's or better, as those, brown colored diodes, tend to fail-shorted ! Ron Rich P.S.--BTW That board is a -E "edition" that failed to be marked as such--(says "D") -- why did you state it was a "-2" , above in the first post ?

Sorry about the -2 vs -E. I must of incorrectly read the number off the top board. Was not intentional by any means. I’ll order some new diodes and those replaced.
Super happy to have it working again.
