Recently purchased this jukebox which powers up but will not play. Freed up the preset and latch solenoids and pins are popping correctly but select and carousel motor doesn't start. It will not go into play mode when manually popping a pin either. I can get the carousel and selecting mech to rotate under power by messing a bit with the transfer switch and the record arms will raise a record to the turntable but then takes it back down. It does this a few times in a row and then just stops. The cancel switch was sticking but I was able to get that freed up too. I would like to know what is the next step in the process? What exactly tells the record search to begin after a pin is popped and what are the most likely causes of it not happening? Is it a relay or micro switch or something else? Trying to repair this on my own but counting on help from the experts on this forum. I have a manual but I'm not very adept at understanding how to make some of the adjustments. Asking for any help you all can provide is appreciated and I hope you can be patient with me as I learn. Thanks.

Please read the "Hi Newbies" post in our FAQ's section- Then read and study your service manual-- figure out where your phono is failing, and we may be able to send you in the proper direction. " Adjustments" are seldom needed, and making them without any reason, usually adds to the phono's problems. Ron Rich

Thank you Ron. I'm rather unskilled when it comes to electrical repairs but I'm fairly good at figuring out mechanical issues. I've been able to get a locked up Rockola 1458 working some years ago but it did not involve anything electrical. I read through the manual every chance I get and am trying to understand how everything works. However it is very confusing at times which is why I've become a forum member here. In my original post I stated that the machine was selecting the proper pin but the motor is not engaging and the jukebox doesn't play. I haven't really made any adjustments other than freeing up those two solenoids which only required some electronic cleaner on the plunger shafts. I'm at a loss to explain further and was hoping that information would be enough to get me started with the assistance from members on this site. Please let me know how I can be more detailed to make it as easy as possible.

Hi John, When a pin is popped, one of the four override switches should get made. You can read about them on pages 10 and 11 of the manual and refer to Fig 21 which shows them.
Norman.
