My brother in law purchased a Jupiter concorde 120S about 5 years ago. The box never worked and was stuck in the garage. He asked me to get it working, and I am making slow but steady progress understanding the operation and resolving the problems one at a time. The issue I am facing now is that the previous owner has used some type of oil on the selector plate. (the plate with the 120 pins) cleaning the plate and pins with alcohol is helping a lot, but there is still a lot grease under the plate and things stay stuck sometimes. I am now contemplating to get the top plate of the selector plate out to clean all 120 pins springs etc etc. However.... not sure what will happen when I can get the top plate off. may be all 120 pins and springs will pop out and I will never get them in again. Anyone out there with experience on the jupiter concorde 120S Thank you all very much Frans Sorry could not upload a picture. (got the message that the forum has exceeded the storage space)

Hi Frans, It's not a difficult job but I cannot remember the specifics. I don't do Jupiters as a rule but ended up doing one about four or five years ago. I refurbished an AMi that the customer delivered to me. He had three jukeboxes and we agreed that when he collected the AMi, he would bring a Rock-Ola. He claimed to have changed his mind at the last minute and took his other jukebox which he couldn't properly identify. It was an Atari - the Jupiter mechanism! The selection pins were totally gummed up from WD40 so they had to be stripped and cleaned.
There are some posts on how to embed pictures in the forum.

Hi Norman,
Thanks!!
From your memory, did you get all the pins out for cleaning, without too much trouble getting them back in?? I assume that they also used WD40 in this particular box looking at the mess I find all around.
Still fun job... the amplifier is bit from before my time, but I worked on tube amplifiers before. (a bit more sensitive to hum these amplifiers)

Hi Frans, No trouble, the pins don't fly to bits if that's what you're worried about! I thought I might see something on youtube that might remind me but no! From memory, the most difficult bit was setting the "bail switches" which detect a raised pin - very fine adjustment required.

Hi Norman, Thanks!! Indeed I was afraid that all the pins would pop out... Today I took it apart, cleaned all pins and springs in an ultrasonic bath, cleaned out the top and bottom plate, cleaned all the 240 holes etc and assembled again. a job which requires time and some patience. So pins and bail switches etc are working again quite nicely but still a lot of work to be done on this machine... Again thanks for the support! Best Regards Frans
