Hi all, The lower cartridge on my tone arm looks lower than it should. It sticks out of the arm instead of being more inserted inside. Strange thing is that it seems to be mounted on the same plate as the upper one. Don't know what is wrong as the service manual shows the 2 cartridge sticking out at the same level.
To take the two cartridge out, I guess I need to unscrew the binding screw on the top of the arm? Any particular precaution to take?
Maybe some good pictures taken from the side and below of the lower cartridge would be very helpful. Cheers

Hi Fab, Maybe, this is one of those cases of "--if it ain't broke--don't fix it !" I do not recall, but I know I have replaced those carts. before-- there were several "mounting configurations", and my memory says that there was "something special" about what was used on the 1434 ? Is it playing records OK ? If so, I think I would leave it alone-- Ron Rich

Hey Ron, yes it plays ok, except for the disc 1 face B where the needle of the lover cartridge touches the plate as so low. I managed to bend a bit the 1st place, but that is not a solution. I think I will replace both cartridges by 2 Pfanstiehl P51-2 which are smaller in size. Fab
