Hello,
I have cleaned (DeoxIT D5) and re-caped my 707. Out of extreme level of caution I also soldered the lamps to the sockets. I am at present still using my tube rectifier. I could use some directions on how to recalibrate my 707 though. I have instead relied upon a few know tube values to say yes my 707 is very close to calibration. It's not like I'm selling tubes.
I purchased "VINTAGE 12AX7WA / 7025 TUBES SOVTEK TESTED NEW" from a reputable seller on Ebay. I tested the four of them on the 12AX7/ 7025 setup - 12 (Heater), 8 (socket number), 85 (sensitivity), 1 (Test position). So 12, 8, 85, 1 They scored 25, 22, 24, 24. I have two 12AU7A's set to 12, 8, 75, 1. They score 70, 78.
In conclusion:
I thought this a fair comparison to say in conclusion these 12AX7WA / 7025 tubes are under performing. Any tube gurus out there that can lend me their ear? What say you?
I could use some directions on how to recalibrate my 707 myself if your in the know.
Tom
