Hello, I have a strange situation going on with my Rockola 470...
Everything works and plays correctly but when you make a selection, say "142" it cycles through and picks up the correct record and plays the correct side... But the selection lights read "242".
I traced the wiring down at the A-B switch and switched the red/white and blue/white wires which solved the lights not saying the correct selection but then it can no longer mark the record as having been played and will continuously cycle through the two selections without clearing them. It does not clear the credit as being used and will just play the two selections on an endless loop.
Before I start digging in further, had anyone seen or dealt with this, am I looking in the wrong area or am I missing something.
Thanks in advance

I dono how that circuit works, but if it's lighting a light bulb, can you switch the 1 & 2 wires going to the lights ? Ron Rich

Yes swapping the wires at the A-B snap switch is not the answer because that also swaps the cancel solenoids, as you have discovered! Something amiss with the lights as Ron has suggested! If you selected 242, did that illuminate 142?

Hi Guyz, Are the displays still incandescent lamps on that model, driven by a "wiper", or is that a glass tube display, driven by the computer ? Ron Rich

Yes Norman, if I select "142" when it pulls the record and starts playing it is number 142 but the display reads "242".
Rich, they are little individual bulbs for each separate digit.
I thought about tracing the wires up to the light box and just switching the first digit wires to make it right but I was concerned about that being a work around instead of an actual fix. Basically, I wasn't sure if there was something else going on that I should check first.
Bought this machine a few weeks ago and have put some work into it already so I don't know how long this display has been wrong and if someone before me went in and fiddled with things. I can tell already I'm not the first person to work on it since it was taken out of service.
Bought a Rowe MM4 a year ago and got it all fixed and working and decided I needed another one, lol.
Have to say, this Rockola is pretty easy to work on.

There's a 3 pin plug/socket between the A-B snap switch and the indicator. That would be the most likely area where the wires have been crossed - pins 1 & 3 carry the power to indicator lamps 1 & 2 (GRN-WHT to 1 and PUR-WHT to 3).

If you have the schematic-it should be an EZ fix ? Ron Rich

Norman, where about inside would that plug/socket be? I'm looking through the cabinet and I am not seeing a three pronged plug with those wire colors.

Try following the wire harness FROM, the lamps, down ?? Ron Rich

Found the plug and socket, it's part of a six prong connection setup. Unfortunately the wiring matches the schematics from the A/B switch through the resistors, through two plug/socket connections and up to the light box so nothing is crossed or wired different than what the book says. Going to take the light box apart and see if there is something crossed in there.

SOLVED!!!
I pulled the light box itself and removed it from the cover so I could look at the patching on the board. Tracing it back from the bulb itself I found that the wires for bulbs 1 and 2 we're reversed in the connector. I was able to extract them from the slot and switch them and now the selection light match what is playing!!
Thank you both for your help, pointed me in the right direction and knowing the wire colors to look for was epic!
Odd that they were switched, I hadn't opened that component up yet but it looks like it somewhat newer than the rest of the machine. Maybe a switch out, maybe someone replaced it and got to tinkering... who knows, but it's working now and I'm happy.
Thanks again guys!!
