Bringing this back to life after who knows how many years in storage. Cleaned and lubed mech and a variety of contacts and it started but stopped after 15 minutes.
One of the 4 - 6973 power tubes red plated and the machine screamed like a digital siren for 20 seconds until I shut it off! So I switched 2 tubes to see if the problem followed the tube.
Played for 5 minutes no problem so I tried to punch in some more selections to let it run longer. Pressed a selection and - nothing. No click, no locking of the selection made. The buttons don't stay down at all.
I see a small transformer looking part in the button mechanism. Does that fire a solenoid?
Any ideas? It's probably simple but I don't know these machines at all. Still learning.
Thanks!

Hi Scott, First of all, I would consider having the amplifier rebuilt because you are in danger of doing serious damege by tinkering with 6973's especially after having had the "digital siren" warning. Seriously, you could be doing damage that is going to be expensive to repair!
Have you got yourself a manual? Is the "transformer looking part" the latch solenoid? It appears you may have blown a fuse - the fuse of course would be blowing to protect something - another warning for you to proceed with caution!

Hi Norman, You have some very strange ideas here ! "---A Manual---"-- "---serious damage---" ? a "---fuse blowing to protect something---"-- Have you been eating strange food-- sleeping on the other side of the bed--or on the floor ? I hope the rest of your day is better !! Ron Rich
