Hi JT, There is a sticky in the Seeburg section "what to look for--" which pertains to Seeburgs, but also to all most all other makes-- you might consult it-- Ron Rich

Hi, just read your post. If your not experienced with jukeboxes or technically minded, I would take along a buddy who has some knowledge of jukeboxes/coin op machines and could advise you. If you don't know the owner, I would ask as many questions as possible as to the history of the box. I have heard the phrase "IT WAS WORKING WHEN WE STORED IT AWAY" so many times, only to find parts missing which would render the machines impossible to actually be playable. Don't take their word for it. Try and make sure no parts are missing. I would also ask the reason why the machine is up for sale. Possibly the mechanism has failed. If they have tried to fix it, ask what they have done. Sometimes, if someone starts tinkering with a machine without reading the manual or not having enough or any technical knowledge, this can make matters worse. Make sure the curved glass is intact. As a replacement, although available will cost around $500. If broken, you could use that info as a means to get the price down, same goes for the side glasses and the two pieces of "waffle" glass to the front. All these cost money to replace. I have a 1454 which I think is mechanically very similar except for certain cosmetic changes. If the machine you are going to look at has stood for some time unplayed, and if you are successful in buying it, the first thing I would do is buy a manual and familiarise yourself with how the mechanism works. Again, if the machine has stood for some time you may have to accept that the selector drum may need to be taken apart, cleaned and reassembled. It can be done, but may not be a job for the beginner. Try a google search to see the amount of work involved. I don't want to put you off, but just trying to offer a bit of practical advise. Oh, one final piece of advise, depending on where the machine has been, watch out for termite damage. These pesky critters do love to munch on jukeboxes. And remember they can destroy a carcass from inside without actually coming through the outer veneer/lamination. Don't ask. I do hope you get the machine. Please let us know. Regards Gary

JT, Gary, Read the Off topic scams posts-- I once had a guy trying to sell me a "beautiful, original, WurliTzer 1015 --looks just as good as the day it left the factory---" He pulled it away from the wall and it must have hit a crack or flaw in the floor, as the whole cabinet just collapsed into a pile of sawdust-- pesky termites, had had, a party in it ! Thanks for the feedback everyone. I am an aircraft/avionics technician by trade, so I feel pretty confident about my technical ability. I did bring it home and will update as I start to get it operational again.

An addition: Model 1448 has four waffle pattern glasses in front, not just two plustwo metal trims like later model 1454. Some photos and some specifications can be found here: www.jukebox-world.de/Forum/Archiv/Rock-Ola/R.O.1454.htmMaybe you can make a list for yourself with Rock-Ola numbers of amplifier, power supply, etc.

Yes, my 1448 is missing the waffle glass inner pieces and the outers are just the frames (no glass). I'm guessing based on the reference above that this are incorrect for this model. any ideas on where to get replacements? Victory glass does not have the glass, only the frame pieces. Thanks for the reference Hildegard. Very informative as my unit has blue amplifier and power supply.

Has anyone tried to use drop ceiling light diffuser panels as a close comparison? I know it is thin, but you could possible double or triple it up. Just trying to think outside the "jukebox"....
