Hello all.
Pete here, I have just found this forum after doing a google search. It is refreshing to find a new Jukebox forum, I did years ago join Phonoland.
I have restored 2 jukeboxes and am currently on my third.
About 5 years ago I restored a Rock-Ola 474, this was my first venture into jukes. I have always been fascinated by them, but could never afford one then.
Came about this by complete chance, and for free. Being my first juke it took me some time to sort and understand, I was very cautious about tackling it.
It is still working beautifully and sounds great.
The second machine, and earlier Rock-ola 460, this was a complete wreck, it had been imported directly from the US (still had the US plug and 45s)
The cabinet was rotten and mechanism filthy. A lot of hard work and a complete nut and bolt strip down. It too is working and sounding wonderful.
Since completing the 460, I have now acquired an AMI Continental 2. A machine in a completely different league. Overall it is in good condition, no rechroming required and no cabinet damage. Mechanically Its pretty good, but does require a bit of work and a little bit of rewiring. But nothing major.
There is one problem however, and that is that the pin pusher carrier (the cast part) is cracked, I am hoping that it can be repaired, maybe alloy welded, but don't hold much hope.
I have been able to 3D print a replacement, which will at least enable me to get the machine running. I would like obviously to get the original part refitted. I have posted a couple of pictures of the parts, if anyone has any ideas of a possible repair I would be very interested. However I am sure the plastic part will function properly in the meantime.
I look forward to being an active member on these forums, if only at the moment for offering a little guidance on 70's Rockolas.
I am sure I will need a little guidance myself regarding the AMI
