Hi, I hope someone can point me in the right direction...
I have a W2500 that basically just "stopped cold" in the middle of changing records. After playing a record, the sound that the changing mechanism normally makes when taking the record off of the turntable started getting louder and more labored, and started slowing down. Then it just stopped in the middle of the cycle, dead. I've looked for fuses for the mech, but can't find any specifically for it. Also, everything else seems to be energized. It's just stopped mid-sequence and I can't figure out how to get it to the end of the sequence so it can re-set. The record placement arm is still up and won't "click" back into the "fully down" out of the way position. Is it possible that the changer motor burned up? I've never heard of that happening, but I'm out of ideas.
Any thoughts will be very much appreciated.... Thanks!

My GUESS is that the record lift arm is bound on "something"-- in order to determine what, I would turn the motor backwards, watching the extended arm-- My guess ( and HOPE) is that the 2 volt DC fuse in the amplifier opened, rather then the motor ! Ron Rich

Hi Ron! I thought of that, but the arm moves freely when I pull it, and the motor spins easily when I turn the knob in the back of it. My pal Brad tested the fuse in the amp, and it was not blown. So, you can see why we're stumped!

You do realize that motor turns two ways, and has two functions-- what's happening when you turn it by hand- ?

Hi again, When I turn it by hand, the carousel rotates in either direction, depending on which way I turn the knob. Nothing else seems to be engaged; it's all "free & loose."

If the record basket is rotating in two directions- fix the backstop pawls !! See the sticky --Didja oil that mechanism ??

The backstop pawls are all good. The basket actually isn't freely rotating in both directions. It moves a tiny little distance in either direction when I turn the motor knob in either direction. I suspect that if the arm wasn't up, the basket would not move in reverse.

OK--- You have me totally comfuzzed-- IF-- an "arm" is "up"-- backstop pawls are not being used-- the arm blocks the basket from moving ? Is the "service switch in "play", or "service position"- is either arm not fully in the stored position ? DO NOT make any attempt to spin that basket unless the service switch is set to service, and both arms are in their total downward position--or you can do MAJOR damage ! Ron Rich

Ok, so let me start over and add a few details... So, the jukebox played about 5 selections perfectly. During the reject cycle after the record was done playing, it began the cycle as normal. But then, the mechanics got really loud and labored, and then just stopped in mid-reject cycle. The lifting arm waiting to receive the record is still up. The arm on he other side is in it's "carriage locking position" (slightly up). The service switch is in the "play" position, since like I said before, it was playing records, and then it just stopped.

I dono I am still missing something-- can you pull both arms down to their- total -resting place ? Do you have the service manual for your phono ? Can you make & post a link to a video ? Ron Rich
