Hi Alan, I know this is a bit obvious - but is the turntable motor running? Also there is a Century 21 and a Century 21E and they are quite different - just making sure you get the correct manual!

Hi Alan, Check the pictures in the Jukebox World archive www.jukebox-world.de/en/Archive/ The E has ES technology. I'm not particularly familiar with the older Century 21. You would also be able to get the manual at Jukebox World. Norman.

Hi Alan, As I said, I am not familiar with the Century 21. NSMs have two motors, one for the mechanism (scan and transfer) and one for the turntable - which is why I asked if the turntable motor was running. Isn't the 21 turntable belt driven?
Edit - Actually it looks like the belt driven models might only have a single motor. Maybe you just need to get that manual! The motor relay (MR) that you hear clicking switches the motor supply from 125 VAC to 80 VAC for playing (if yours is the same as the Consul 120) - maybe that's where you need to be looking?
Norman.

Hi Alan, I presume you must be in the UK? It always helps to include your location! jukeboxparts.co.uk has a Century 21 manual listed but I am a bit concerned that it might actually be for the 21E so I would ask for clarification before ordering.

You should be able to follow the wires out of the transformer-- they would most likely be a "twisted pair"-- Ron Rich

Hi Alan, I have pdf of a Consul 120 manual (not a great copy though!) which is also a single motor NSM of around that period. What has been done there is the 125VAC is dropped using an R/C network and switched via a relay. I have no idea whether yours is the same although I would imagine it is. I'll message you a link - but as I said, it's not a great copy so don't give up your search for the proper manual!
Edit - Although having said that, I've just had a look in my filing cabinet where I found a schematic of a Consul 120B and what has been done there, is the 80V is tapped off the same transformer winding as the 120V. So take your pick! Relay MR, contact mr2 in both cases.
