Hello All, I'm new to this forum and look forward to discussing things with you. I have just purchased a Wurlitzer 1015 (the original 1946 78rpm model). It is in non-working condition but I like fixing things (I already own a 1949 AMI model C which I brought back to life). I've always wanted the 1015, so now I'm "living the dream" so to speak.
The issue I have right now is that I need to drive over to the sellers location (which is 400+ miles away!), pick it up and transport it back home. I will need to rent a suitable vehicle and drive over, pack it, load it and get it back home. The seller will help me load it plus i'm taking my son to help as I know it very heavy. I would greatly appreciate any guidance on how to pack this thing to avoid unnecessary damage and I think I know the answer to this one - Can it be shipped lying on it's back, or must it be kept upright? That determines what type of vehicle I need to rent. Renting and driving this far is quite expensive, so I don't want to get something bigger than is required. I have the dimensions/weight of it (Dimensions: 60”H x 32”W x 24 1/4”D Weight: 350 lbs.). I can take blankets, foam, straps etc. with me to wrap it up.
Thanks in advance for any help!
Martyn

Thanks Ron. I picked it up yesterday and carefully transported it 480 miles back to my home. Boy it’s heavy! It looks very good and complete but I’ll need to take a closer look to see what it needs to bring it back it back to its former glory. Most immediate need on exterior is a new set of casters as it doesn’t roll smoothly on flat concrete. Any suggestions where to look for those?

Hi Martyn, Glad you made it OK-- Can't give you any help on castors since you did not fill out your location, as requested, in the User Introductions section. Ron Rich

Hi Martyn, OK-- but not "as requested"(I'll do it for you) ! Try Granger, or look in toy local phone book for "castor companies"--Lowes/Home Depot.ACE hardware, may also carry them-- Ron Rich
