I had my E80 restored about 10 years ago. Worked great till last week. It played a record normally but then the tonearm would not return. I can’t physically move it back to its resting position. I can put it at the beginning of the record and it will play normally then it just stays there at the end of the record. Any help is appreciated.

Please read the PM you were sent-- Sounds to me as if the end of record, switch has failed ? Do you have an external "reject switch", either on the cabinet, or elsewhere ? If so, push it, and see if that does anything ? Do NOT "force" anything ! Ron Rich

I tried the eject button. Nothing happens.

Hi Malcolm, I HOPE you do not have an "eject" button on that jukebox ! It gets pretty hairy when jukeboxes "eject" records ! OK- Look at the gripper motor-- if the type that has the small Phillips screw holding the cover over the armature, remove the cover and see if you can use your finger nail, to move the armature-- if the other type with a plastic cover--carefully remove it and try the same thing. Mine has a plastic cover. I removed it. The armature turns freely.

I’m not sure which are the dc fuses but I tested all 3 on the power supply and they’re all good.

OK--L@ k for 25 vdc inside that box-- You MAY ( read, "should" ) have a fuse inside that box-- check it -- do not replace it if blown and black inside ! Ron Rich

Watching the operation when the tonearm gets to the end of the record the reversing relay energizes. Also, if I push the “record cancel” button while it’s playing, the relay will energize. I’m wondering if it could just be dirty contacts on the reverse relay. I’m not sure how to get the cover off to access the contacts. What do you think?

Hi Malcolm, Sure--very "possible" ! I dono what that relay/cover looks like?-- be sure the phonograph is UN-plugged, before attempting to remove the "cover" ! Ron Rich

The cover I’m referring to is the red “cover and bracket assy “under the turntable. The right side cover came off by loosening the 4 screws. That gives you access to the relays but not the contacts.

Is the enable attachment available. Otherwise I’m not sure how to add a picture.
