Hi all I have a couple of questions: 1) Does anyone know the size of the screws that hold the needle cartridge on (see picture) and can I use fibre washers there or do I need rubber ones (mine has hardened)?
drive.google.com/file/d/1_qSRmdNarHXnBu1yxn8zew4zvqYbeGz7/view?usp=sharing
2) I took out my stepper and noticed something that I first noticed years ago but couldn't figure out. The cable from the coin mech to the stepper has a through connector? about half way along where it looks like it should go through and screw to something like a metal cover. Maybe my juke is missing something or is not standard?3) What should the felt pad under the motor feel / look like? ie should it be wet with oil?

4) What covers or heat shields should there be for the mechanisms etc apart from the stepper and has anyone got any spare? LOL
Thanks!

Hi Mike, Gottum da partz book ? Almost all (1., 2., 4.) of your questions, should be answered there ! The felt under the motor is only to catch "drips"--3., Iz your motor area oiled--dripping onto the felt ? If so, the felt will be wet--if not-- probably time to oil that section, properly ! Ron Rich

Hi Mike, 1) UNC 4-40 screws are normally used for phono cartridges. Where are you using the fibre washer, between the screw and cartridge - can't see a problem?
2) Looks like that might be some sort of adaptor - what stepper is fitted, it might not be the correct one for 2300 series? Just a guess though!
3) I have always thought that was just a drip tray.
4) The parts section of the manual should indicate what covers were originally fitted.
Norman.

I have the manual yes...forgot to look as its been ages since I worked on it.... Q1 answered ...thanks Norman as well. Q2 I have the stepper in the manual so I still don't know what that 'adaptor' is for. The manual diagrams don't help me. Q3 Its not dripping so I have oiled the motor again (I did it recently as well) and also oiled the hole above the turntable shaft as well as through the holes under the records. Does the record changer motor have an oil point? I don't see one. Q4 I know of these covers: plastic cover for stepper (65801), cover for amp (64979) and heat shield for power supply (114371). I don't recall EVER seeing these as repro parts. They may come up rarely as used parts but again I've never seen them. Does anyone have any advice where to look? Also the 536 amp had a cover plate (113976) for the valves, but not the 534 according to the manual....Seems odd. cheers

Mike, The motor has LARGE, oil wicks, on both ends ! There is also a semi loose, ball bearing, that should be oiled in the rear as you look at the motor being on your right side--. Ron Rich

The drive motor is making a lot of noise in operation. I took it out and took the end off again for a look. The noise is coming from the end where the gears mesh with the carousel because there is no noise from the end where the 2 carbon bushes are when the motor is separated. There seems to be a lot of play up and down in the shaft that the small gears are on. When I removed the cover that has 3 screws holding it on which is over the shaft I noticed 2 washers (copper or brass?) over the shaft, which seem to be there to hold the shaft down to reduce the play. There is also a little grease in the area under the cover but not much. Would anyone know if this could be cured by fitting more washers, and if so what material they are made from, or am I on the wrong track? Hopefully this picture will help if my explanation isn't clear: drive.google.com/file/d/1TQNJWeETmwAcKKmevkcAGlQ4AUkHBN7M/view?usp=sharing

Hi Mike, My OPINION, is yes--go ahead and add a shim or two-- I would guess, that there should be 1/32 of play--no more ? Ron Rich

Thanks, I'll order a few. It's way more than 1/32 at the moment. Copper or Brass do you think?

Hi Mike, I think I'd go for spring steel-- or a "wave washer", if you can find it-- What are the ones in there now ? Ron Rich
