MM5 latch solenoid grommets

I've just removed the selector unit from my MM5, mostly to clean 50 years of finger grease, dirt and grime from the buttons.

I thought the latch solenoid was simply loose, but there are remains of grommets where it screws into the mounting bracket which have now disintegrated. 

I plan on replacing the grommets, but why would this particular component need them? Something to do with the 30v circuit it's on?

It uses the grommets as a sound surpresser. AC solenoids tend to "buzz" a little ! Ron Rich

After I wrote the original post I took another look at the mechanism. There's a blind grommet that's also falling to bits on the side of the mounting bracket which the arm attached to the solenoid rests against. I then thought it was all some sort of vibration damping.

I looked through my box of spare grommets but couldn't find the right sizes so I've ordered a mixed bag of 180 grommets. It's cheaper to do that than buy the 5 I want!
