Hi all!
I have Wurlitzer 2000 jukebox that has brought a lot of joy to our family.
A while ago, after loading Christmas records, I accidentally selected an empty disk slot. Since then, the record changer motor has not started. When a record selection is made the selector pin pops up and the turntable motor runs, but the changer motor not. I haven't been able to find a reason yet. No smell of smoke. All 8 fuses are fine, checked with a meter. The plug connectors have been removed and attached (power off). The load switch is in the operation position. The safety switch of the record guide seems to work. The cancel switch does not reset the issue.
I would be very grateful for tips on how to continue troubleshooting.

Hi Matthew, Did you try moving the tone arm to the center of the turn table--just like a record would do ? The phonograph knows not, if there is a record in a slot, or not--and it should make no difference ?? Ron Rich

OK, Do you know how to "service"contacts ? If not see the sticky on "over center switches", and the sticky on "contacts", both in the FAQ's section.-- Then with the power--- OFF---, l@ k at both of the "over-center switches" on the back of the phono-- be sure all contact points are "clean"/ free of pits and burrs. I think your problem is there ? Ron Rich

Hi,
I have a similar problem (turntable motor spins but record changer motor does not after a selection is made) from time to time, usually when turning the phono on after it's been off for a few days.
What I've found is that if I move the record changer motor a little bit by turning the hex drive, the record changer motor will start to work.
Been meaning to take the motor apart for service, but the problem happens infrequently enough, and I have plenty of other stuff to do...so I haven't gotten around to it.
Good luck in finding the problem, it's probably something simple...

Hi guys!
Ron...yes, the motor has been externally serviced (cleaned/oiled/etc.), but I'd like to tear it down for an internal inspection and cleaning. I think every so often the motor will land on a dead spot (poor contact between brushes and commutator) and "won't start", but will take off by moving it just a bit with the hex drive...
Matthew...the record changer motor has a 6-sided "hex drive" sticking out the back, that you can use to manually move/rotate the record basket...I can turn the hex drive on mine by hand. I think it's 1/4" (or maybe 5/16") across the flats, so if you put a tool on it (wrench, socket), obviously don't force it if it doesn't turn easily...

Matthew, Sure-- Open it up-- clean all the years of k-rap, outta the motor- dress the brushes, or replace them, if needed, clean the slots in the commentator, using only a toothpick ! Earl it well, with 20 wt., ND earl (unless it's got non-oil able, sealed ball bearings?)! Check the voltage being applied to it ? Ron Rich
