Becaused I've so much other stuff in the front room (my den) of our small semi, my two jukeboxes have lived in our unheated summerhouse for about fifteen years. I play them most when I'm gardening at least every other day in the summer, so they can be on for a few hours at a time. But they get little use in the winter, I just "turn them over" by playing two or three records a few times during the week.
I don't like them to get cold or damp in the winter, so I've always covered them with insulated material and kept an inspection lamp with an incandescent 60w bulb, in the bottom of each, this keeps the interior round about room temperature and stops them getting damp. Trouble is, these lamps occasionaly fail. So I can end up with a jukebox that's been cold for a few days, when I check on them. Added to that, these lamps are getting scarse to find and LED lamps don't provide enough heat.
Anyway, trawling eBay I found these little 60w heaters for £17 each. They arrived today. So I've now one I've attached to the front panel of my Rock-Ola 468. Pretty much the only place where it's not too close to anything.
The other is attached to the back wall of my 443.
They're worth it to me for a bit of peace of mind. They will obviously chuck out more heat than a 60w lamp. But they are thermostatically controlled so I'll balance them out over the next few days.

Hi Riley, I am not so sure these heaters will last any longer then the 60w incani bulb ! Should they fail, I suggest you find a "rough service" lamp-- one designed for a refrigerator or a microwave-- these seem to "last forever"-- Ron Rich

Thanks for that Ron.
I think they'll last longer than an incandescent lamp. To control one I'd have to put it on a timer, more chance of it blowing switching on and off. The seller of these lamps has a total of nearly half a million sales across the several lines they offer, with a better than 99% positive feedback.
They've sold over 9,000 of these heaters which are available in four different wattages, mine are the lowest of them. So I'm reasonably confident they'll be more servicable than any lamp.

Hi Mr Riley, Your heaters should work OK but it's not temperature that's your enemy here, it's humidity. You can also get re-usable silica gel boxes (use that search) from ebay. If you use one of these along with your heater, you will be able to turn down the temperature control on your heater making it much cheaper to run. You can then occasionally re-charge the dessicant box in your oven after you've cooked your Sunday dinner! Norman.

Thanks for that. To combat any humidity, I've been using a couple of rechargeable dehumidifiers.
