Hi, I have a Wurlitzer Lyric which was working fine, all seems fine record plays and I can hear the sound very quietly, as if the amp is not working, I’ve checked fuses and connections all seem fine. I was thinking of removing the amp and getting it checked out, has anyone had this issue or any suggestions would be appreciated,
thanks Stephen.

Hi Stephen, Lyrics were built for 20 years - from 1961 - 1981. www.jukebox-world.de/Forum/Archiv/Dt.%20Wurlitzer/Dt.-Wurlitzer-Bilder-Uebersicht.htmFirst ones used a crystal cartridge (white), then a green ceramic, after that Philips ceramic. The white ones are often fautly these days so are the green ones. The result is: very low to no volume while playing. This can happen with the Philips cartridge as well. So next to checking the amp - which is always good - check the cartridge too. Hildegard

Hi, thanks for the info, mine is a 1970 model lyric F, I’ve been checking all the connections but no better I’ll check the cartridge and amp. If no joy can anyone recommend someone who specialises is servicing jukeboxes, up north if possible but I’m happy to pop somewhere in a van.
For info I’m in Carlisle.
Thanks.

Ok. I don't know anybody close to you. Jukenorman is in Aberdeen which isn't around the corner. Sheffield is somewhat closer? www.jukebox-repairs.co.uk/ Dave is a nice guy and from what I know he knows these Lyrics well. You can test if the amp has a general problem easily: While playing a record (even without sound) unplug the input cable from the amp. Take a thin nail or so and touch the metal of the input socket. If a louf noise can be heard the amp amplifies in general (regardless of sound quality, that#s a different issue). If the noise can be heard the problem can be cartridge, mute function or the connection. If no noise can be heard the amp has a problem and needs professional work. To be sure: Check all fuses on amp not only with eyes but test them. Hildegard
