Model A with BB amp. amp has gain control, and a socket labeled "speaker control" . The speaker control appears to be a large wire wound rheostat that adds resistance in series with the cabinet speaker. It has several burned out areas, so, open. I was taught that this, while it will reduce the volume, changes the impedance reflected to the amp. That's where L pads come in.
So, do you think this setup was factory? Sure looks like it. If I replace it, Any suggestions ? Taper? Wattage? It's a large porcelain pot, screwdriver shaft with only 2 leads used. Numbers stamped F 1200 and PR 2442 as near as I can tell. I tried to add a picture, but there is a 1 meg limit. Thanks.

The book I have is a service manual for AMI A and B . Nice spiral bound, heavy paper with virtually NO information on the changer mech. Very nice, clear amp schematics, but no cabinet hardware. No speaker control or annunciator details. If there is a better one I would appreciate directions to it.
Butterfield is sending the annunciator chain, so that's taken care of, so I think I'll install a 100 watt L pad between amp and speaker and call it good. Once again, thanks. Now I have an A, C, 2Ds, E, 3Fs, a G, and an H. three seeburgs and a 2700 Wurlitzer.
