Hello All!
I have a Wurlitzer Americana III (3300 Series, 1969), that has been in my home since 2005. I vacuumed and wiped it down originally (the front glass was smashed), replaced the front glass with just regular glass. It seemed to work well at first, but the selector crank soon began to stick so it repeats a song or plays one on the opposite side of the carriage. Now I have to constantly remove the back and pop the selector pins back up. The carriage also doesn't always spin on its own and requires a push to get to the next selection. I have a manual for it that includes all schematics, along with a feeler gauge, contact cleaner, fiberglass brush, sewing machine oil, burnisher, multimeter and myriad automotive tools.
Where do I begin to diagnose and repair these issues? Any other tools I should have on hand for repairs or adjustments going forward?
Thank you in advance!

Start by reading the PM you were sent-- then do as requested-- then read the Service Manual-- give the "sewing machine oil" back to your favorite lady-- Read the stickies here on our list-- Have fun ! You will not "need" to "adjust" anything ! Ron Rich

Thanks, Ron! I was told by another collector that sewing machine oil is needed for lubrication in this box.

Fair, enough-- After reading all, get thee to an ACE, or Home Depot, Lowe's, or the like, and purchase some 3 in One, MOTOR oil ( 20 wt. oil). Then -- find the "record loading switch" set it to "load" and gently spin the basket while looking straight down the center-- You will see a series of "holes" pass by-- stop spinning when you see the "whole" one ! Look down and you will see that there is a lower hole", with (red --if very dry) felt, in it-- SATURATE that felt with the 20 wt. -- allow it to "sink in" and saturate it again-- Read the above sticky on back stop pawls-- clean them up per the above sticky. NEVER spin the basket without the record loading switch in "load" position !! Oil the motors, and any sliding/friction points-- including the clutch area ! You probably have, at that point, "fixed" your problems. Ron Rich

Ha! I may have to do these things incognito. The wife and kids have been not so secretly hoping I was close to getting rid of it after it has become a holder of all things they don't care to put away for the last 17 years. I will keep you posted!

Rey, You ain't done yet ?? Ron Rich Well, Rich. My 3-in-one motor oil finally came in! Hard to believe how difficult it was to find in stock. I transferred the contents into the sewing machine oil bottle because has a long telescopic spout (I knew it would come in handy after all). I oiled the felt as instructed. Despite reading the sticky note above, I cannot figure out the procedure for cleaning everything it mentions and what to use to do so. Thoughts or pics?

One thing to note - While it does not seem to have the issue with playing non selected songs, the selector does not usually move on it's own to the next selection about 80% of the time.
