People keep breaking my select key. This is the 3rd time I have had to replace it. Typically they don't get their selection pressed in correctly and when it's not playing they seem to think they need to press the select key. Pushing hard on select breaks the plastic lense part above the text.
I know a source for new/reproduction buttons but by the time they ship to me it's over $50 for the button.
Anybody have a lead on where I could get just the clear plastic cover part? I have 4 broken ones now that just need new plastic.

What, are you calling a "select key" ? Izzit the individual push button plastics that identify the selection "letters/numbers" ? If so, izzit the same one breaking all the time ? Is the keyboard adjusted correctly ? Are there any metal "back-up-- springs or supports, missing (L@ k at the parts catalog)? Ron Rich

Sorry, it's not actually a button it's the select indicator light that/key that is on the keyboard. it does not press, it's not designed to be pressed it just lights up to indicate you have a credit and you can make a selection. Because it's part of the keyboard and shaped like the rest of the buttons people seem to think it's a button and are pressing on it hard enough to break the plastic. It's the lit button in this image, (not actually a button but looks like it is) They tend to break much like in this image. typically the clear plastic breaks above the red cutout

added some pics above not commercially it's on free play located in a vacation rental i have. thus, the select button is always lit. you may be right, i may be able to glue a thicker piece of clear plastic over the top if i can't find a source for the original plastic cover.

Good luck-- WurliTzer has been out of business for 40 some odd years-- I doubt you will find anything-- I do recall seeing them, broken, before-- You MIGHT try a plastics fabricating house such as "TAP Plastics" ?? Or you can just put a note on the phono saying if it's broken, there will be a $500.00 charge !! I HOPE you are locking up that phono !! Ron Rich
