OK-- Without established credits--ain't nothin's gonna work ! Didja check fuses/circuit breakers ? IF a fuse-- Replace ONLY with the correct size/type, ONE time, only !! See markings on chassis for correct size/type--do not rely on markings on fuses !! Ron Rich

Ok thanks Ron. FYI if I manually trip a selection on the write out lever & then activate the carousel with the scan switch it will pick out that record & play it. So at least that part works.

Ok Ron. I read thru that info & something occurred to me. The tech that was working on it last year set it on “free play” for me. So theoretically a coin no longer has to activate the credit switch. At least that seemed to be the case for a time until recently. Is it possible something he did has gone awry & is now interrupting the selection process?

The credit accumulator is shown on page 6 of the manual, free play involves doing something to prevent credits being subtracted from the master ratchet.

Hi guys. I’m back after a couple weeks away from the juke & the forum. So here’s where I’m am now in the process. I’m convinced something is preventing the push buttons assy & write-unit from being energized. No voltage detected anywhere I check. Nothing on the transformer on the push button assy. If I press a button it does not stay depressed. However, if I manually engage the mechanism that makes the contact it does stay depressed. As soon as I let it go the button pops up. So that’s shyly I think there is no power getting to it. I took the write in unit out of the juke & thoroughly cleaned the switches, contacts, checked for loose wires etc. Reinstalled it but this did not appear to help anything. I’ve visibly checked fuses but they do not look blown. Is it possible for a fuse it be bad even if it looks ok? Should I just replace all the fuses in the hope that it may solve the problem?

Yes- it is entirely possible to have a fuse that's blown, that you can't see--You TEST, all fuses, out of circuit, with a meter--you also check them at the same time, to be sure, they are the correct type/size-- Ron Rich

Thanks. I’ll check all for continuity. FYI the juke plays great if I trip the selection levers on the write out side. Gripper does what it should, pick up the record, it plays & gripper puts it back & shuts off. Multiple selections play no problem. Good audio. If I can just figure out why the button assy & write in unit are not getting power I think I’ll have this thing up & running.

There is no such thing as a "write in unit" nor a "write out side" ? As was stated in our FAQ's "Hi Newbies" post, PLEASE READ, the service manual and use only the terms used there for clarity. Did you clean the write in disc's contact rings, and wiper contacts, as per the FAQ's "Contact -- cleaning--", post, in FAQ's-- Have you oiled the write-in motor armature & felt pads, with 20 wt. ND oil (ONLY!!)? Ron Rich

Ok now I’m confused. I have the manual & on page 8 there is a breakdown of various components. On the bottom left side there is a box that is identified in the illustration as the “write in unit” with an arrow pointing to it. So that is what I’m referring to. Inside the cover are the stop relay, write in relay, ADR relay, accumulator reset coil & album credit switch. I can detect no power getting to it. Neither is there any power detected anywhere in the button assy. Something is obviously interrupting the the flow of power to these areas. I have checked all the fuses, even bought a new test meter for the task. All tested good. Any ideas where else to look? Again, if I manually trip a selection lever on the readout carriage it selects that record, plays it, goes thru the whole cycle just fine. Good audio, sounds great. But I’m mystified by what’s causing this no power to the button assy or write in unit.

OK- I probably ASSumed something that was not true-- I don't have the manual--sorry-- What 'power' are you looking for -- Once again--assuming, that there only would be power there at the pushing of the last keyboard button. Has credit been established ? Ron Rich

Hi Mr Rockandroller, You have to try and fault find logically! You need to refer to the sequence diagrams from page 26 onwards to do this. First thing, have you got 25VAC, you can see that it passes through a contact of the ADR relay - is it there at the write in or checkoff relay coils? That pretty much has to be your starting point.

Norman, I will double check the areas you suggest but the last time I did I could detect no power anywhere in the write-in unit. I understand it should be 25v, correct? Like wise where I previously had 25 v on the transformer mounted on the button assy now there is none. Ron, when you ask if there’s “credit” im not sure what you mean. This machine was set for free play last year by a tech who came to my house & got this thing working half way. Meaning, the L thru V buttons would not function. He told me he thought the problem was in the wiring harness underneath. That’s when I went online & found a complete 433 button assy. I did not put it in right away as I was enjoying using the machine as it was until until it quit working again right after Christmas last year. Then I put in the new button assy. hoping that would help but it didn’t. That’s when I found out about this power issue that I’ve been trying to figure out. Is it possible that it has something to do with the way the tech put it on free play? Maybe that has cause something to fail?

Again, I need to reiterate that you must work logically. You have to look for the 25VAC where you would expect to find it. If it's not at the two relay coils, then you need to look at the ADR relay contact. If it's not at either side of the ADR contact, you're now back at the 25VAC fuse. You don't need to worry about credit until you've ascertained that you have the 25VAC (that's your next task!).
