Hi, new member, first post.
We bought a Rowe Ami JEL-200 jukebox a few years ago. It was/is in working condition and we've enjoyed using it. It's time, however to restore it.
I've been reading up on title strips. As I catalog our 45 collection and clean them (we've collected about 4,000 since getting the JEL), I'm going to print a strip for each record. I'd like these to be as authentic as possible (in other words, look like they did back in the day when the JEL came out). During my "research" I saw a comment that said the Sterling Title Strip Co put out posters that explained the color system to jukebox patrons. Has anyone ever seen one of these or maybe even have one? I searched the web as best I could but couldn't find anything. I'd love to have one of these posters to hang by our JEL. And of course I would make our labels to match the explanation on the poster. Short of acquiring an original poster, I'd accept putting together and printing a reasonable facsimile of one if I knew what they looked like.
Thanks.

That was "Sterling's" idea-- There was never any type color system used by all strip printers--as far as I know--"Authentic" to me, would be hand-typed strips on an old typewriter ! If you subscribe to Always Jukin', they offer different colored "blanks", as well as pre-printd ones-- or see the post here on our forum ! Ron Rich

Agree about the color system being Sterling's. Billboard has a lot of interesting articles about it and whether it was a good idea or not (different programmers had different opinions and of course Star didn't agree with it). Some of the articles mention the poster (I saw this after my post above) but I still haven't seen an example. We are going with the color to separate music by style and will not group 45s by style in the juke. So someone picking songs can look for green if they want country, blue for R&B, etc.
Also agree on hand-typed on an old typewriter, but I'm not going there for a couple of thousand strips. There is a pc font that gives a good imitation of it having been done on a typewriter. Probably going to use that. Although there were the pre-printed strips back in the day vs those that were typed...
