Hello All,
Digging into my 100R after a cross country move, and while I have it working playing fairly well, I am having an issue with the Mute circuit. When scanning for records it's not muting and of course you can hear the hiss and various clicks as it scans. Once all selections play the power to the mech cuts and it's quiet.
I've checked the Clutch Reset 'M' switches and the Cam 'MB' switches...these seem to make/break as they should. Is there something else in that circuit I'm missing? I have my Ron Rich Mech Guide and Manual trying to hunt this down. Any help is appreciated!

Hi, -- thanks for your purchase of the "Seeburg Mechanism Guide"-- Did maybe, the mute plug "remove itself" from the amplifier ?? Got a meter/"test lamp" ? Check if the mute is "grounded" when in scan position--at the amp plug-- Use the "picture diagram" in the Service Manual, for help-- What do you mean when you say "seem to make/break----" Did you READ, the FAQ's "sticky" posts on contacts ? If not, do so-- Ron Rich

Hi Ron,
Apologies for the late response. Life got in the way, but I'm back looking at this problem. The mute plug is definitely installed in the amp, I re-seated it a few times as well. Is there a specific pin of the mute plug I should be checking for ground in Scan position? I do have the service manual, but not sure which Picture diagram you're referring to. When I said "make/break as intended" I meant that both the M and MB switches open during play and closed in scan and transfer as outlined in the service manual.

Didja READ the info on contacts in our FAQ's section- -Looking at them will not tell you if they are "making a GOOD", contact. Look at the amp SCHEMATIC-- that plug has only three pins-- pin 1, is ground--pin 2, is mute--pin 3, is AVC-- jump pins 1 & 2-- still not muting ? Ron Rich

I'm working on the "Pop" sound when the record ends and the trip solenoid get's it's power to move on to the next selection. If you look closely you'll notice 3 sets of contacts " MB, MA, M " make any one of those circuit's while the record is playing and you'll see the mute circuit is made and the record playing is muted. Doing that procedure assured's me that the mute circuit is working once it gets out of those relay contacts. I'm working on the beginning sequence of the trip circuit should momentarily close any one of those mute circuit's before energizing the trip relay. Well hopefully I was able to focus in one part.

Thanks Glenn, I wasn't aware that any/all of them should be triggering the mute. RIP to Ron - I still need to take apart the mute plug and check the pins.
