Thru a lot of trial and error and help from you guys and especially Ron and Norman the 437 is working to a point further than it has since I first started tinkering with it. The latest is I washed and dried the button/number assembly. I did find that the reject button wire soldered with only 2 threads of wire with the rest frayed off. I cut the complete wire and trimmed and resoldered. I replaced write in carriage arm assembly with one I found online and readjusted the letters/numbers button locking adjustments to specs and recleaned the latch and lock bar switches and then dang, if everything then didnt start working! Even my credit assembly that I thought had gone bad started working again! I was also thinking maybe my write in relay had also gone bad, but evidently not the case. The only problem now at this point and it has been long time just getting to this point is that after a selection finishes playing that selected record pin wont go back in to the write in assembly to reset and will just select the same record over again because it still finds that protruded pin. I dont know if the coils on this different write in arms are weak and not strong enough to push the pin back in or maybe they need adjusting some how, or maybe something in the latch and lock bar switches. I did clean all the contacts before I put this other write in arm on. Ok jukebox kings..where do I need to concentrate on this last issue? And again thx for all the help in just getting to this point.

Hi LJ, The current path for the selection lever reset is shown on page 43 of the manual. The first thing to check (and you may have done this already) is whether both A and B sides are failing to cancel. That should narrow the fault area a bit. Probably your best approach then would be to manually turn the gripper motor (with power off!) to the point where No 2 micro switch transfers and then use a test lamp to trace the circuit (or possibly part of the circuit) as highlighted on page 43.
Norman.

LJ, Your "thinking" is comfuzzed-- You no longer have a "write-in" problem-- your problem now is in the "read-out" process--READ the friendly Service Manual-- Ron Rich

LJ, Odd ball thought-- What motivated you to "buy a WI carriage from eBay" ? I would NEVER attempt something like that and expect it to work--I think you got lucky-- READ the "off topic, Scams" post ! Parts for that carriage are available thru the suppliers listed in our FAQ's section ! Ron Rich

Thx again guys. Ill concentrate on page 43 in manual. And since my knowledge is very limited on working on these things im forced to have replace a lot of parts where I can find them knowing they are forever disappearing out there and thru the process of elimination, I hope to solve another problem. And yes this gets expensive, but no one will come to rural Texas to work on it and it cost too much to ship to someone who knows what they are doing. And besides it gives me something to do and you guys have been great!
