Hi, I have a great 3700 Americana that works great with the service mode switch in the on position. If you flip the switch nothing is energized but the turn table and Amp. Everything seem to be working very well and all the adjustments are spot on. In the service on mode the carousel runs constantly after the record selections have been played. I am confused on the service mode switch functionality. BTW The moldex socket has been wired for free play.

To avoid any confusion the service switch I am talking about is the toggle in the front of the chassis. Not the service/load switch on the side of the cabinet. The schematic shows the switch but not the actual contact in the on or off setting. Just the 4 wires and their colors.

Your manual package should describe the operation of that service switch or it should be silk screened on the housing ?? ? If not-- going from the tip-top of pointy head, 3 position --center "off" (interrupt scan motor)- pressed against the spring- start/run record carrier -- non spring loaded against a stop--"run" Ron Rich

Sadly this machine came with no literature what so ever. I was able to find and download a service manual complete with schematics. I am tracing the circuit with some confusion of the switch function as the switch contacts are not drawn in the schematic. with the switch on the on position 3 wires are 26v a/c and with the switch off 2 wires are hot. one wire is never hot so I need to find out if the current is suppose to come from the control box or the switch in the off position.

This service switch is a on/off toggle switch with 4 wires of 2 colors. It does have function through the big switch on the cabinet that is used for scanning and loading. I think I will pin that switch out for voltage against the schematic. My brain is stuck on the function of the toggle switch. It is easy to jam up my thinking so I miss everything.

I had a 3700 but sold it a few years ago, from memory I think that "service" switch by the turntable is normally in the on position and if you turn it off it will interrupt the carousel, transfer arm, etc. for troubleshooting purposes.

Hi Guys, Not for "trouble shooting"-- it is for servicing the records-- in other words it's to be used if you are changing records. It interrupts all operations and allows one to spin the record container without damage. Ron Rich Ron Rich
