Hi Ron. I have a SMC1 that I think just needs a MCU Gen2. I was given this Disco SMC1 many years ago when I had time on my hands to learn about seeburgs but couldn't afford the MCU repair. Now I work too much to really tinker with Seeburgs but I would like to get this out of my garage and working. If I remember a discussion we had on Yahoo Forums, I believe all it needed was this Gen2. Is ebay the best way to get one? Also is there forum somewhere that you guys still banter about Seeburgs? Please reply when you have time. Thanks Mark

Hi Mark, Read this forum-- I sure "banter about Seeburgs", here, an awful lot (LOL)! The Gen 2 MCU is still being built by me--see the Parts for sale", section here-- Ron Rich

Hi... New this forum. I also have a SMC1 that needs an MCU. I bought this unit in the mid 80's at auction. The unit did not work and the batteries were bad and had leaked all over. I removed batteries and cleaned everthing extensively including the circuit board in the MCU1. Unit worked okay for many years. We always used it in the free play mode and never had to change or reset anything, just played great. Quality of audio went down hill which too much hum, but it was still selecting records ok and display was okay. It set for about 1 year and last week I finally got around to repairing the audio unit. I recapped everything, changed some resistors, cleaned and repaired connections. I am a tech and I set all the bias correctly and benched tested before reinstalling. I also cleaned the mechanism, etc. I reassembled everything and it sounded great and mech seemed to work okay. The only problem was the display would go out intermittently and it was selecting the wrong side of some records. Example: select 179, display would read 179, it would scan and stop on the correct record, then it would play the flip side and the display would change to 279. I opened the original MCU1 unit and found a lot of corrosion and trace damage from when the batteries leaked many years ago. I haven't been able to find an MCU1, and I am not familiar with the MCU2. Are they available and interchangeable with the MCU1? Any ideas would be appreciated. Allen

Hi Stephane, I don't work on these so I don't know what part number 311780 actually is! I just happened to know that CD Adapter sold the repro MCU.
Norman.
