Hi Everyone, Hi everyone, I am need of some help connecting a Seeburg 3WA-200 wallbox to a Wulitzer 3000 jukebox with model 261 stepper unit. To explain the issue I have created a short video: www.youtube.com/watch?v=OSqAxNI_nJUI have connected the four main cables from the stepper to the jukebox following the labels on the cables (#1 cable to #1 on the Wurlitzer main box, #2 cable to number #2...etc). There is also a separate four prong cable and 3 wire cord labled as 'To Booster' which I have not connected anywhere as I am guessing that is only used if you have a lot of wallboxes requiring more power and I am only hooking up one. From the Seeburg 3WA-200 wallbox (which is in good known working order) i have connected red to power, black to ground on the stepper which fully powers the unit. The white signal wire from the wallbox I have connected to the #1 terminal on the stepper, but when used it only actuates the letter side of the stepper with no action on the number side. This all makes much more sense in the video. Really appreciate all comments and help with this ! Charles

Hi Charles, First of all, I think you're going to need the manual! But from looking at your video, you do seem to be getting the letter pulse train and the number pulse train with a gap. The usual method of operation is that the transfer relay operates during the gap - to transfer pulses from letter to number steppers. In a Seeburg stepper for example, the transfer relay energises at the first letter pulse and is then held energised via a time delay capacitor until it drops out during the gap between letter and number pulse trains. You can't tell from the video whether the transfer relay is doing anything. I don't have a manual either!

Hi Charles, As Norman stated--you NEED,the manual that covers the stepper-- The stepper is failing-- you may need to modify the stepper for use with a Seeburg ? You may also need a Seeburg manual to see what needs to be done to the set-up-- I suggest that you purchase the model SS-160 Manual, as it really went into the stepper. Ron Rich

I had also been thinking after I posted above - if you go over (clean) all the contacts in the stepper and replace any electrolytic capacitors that might have a timing function, you might get lucky and it will work! Or it might work well enough that you can diagnose what's wrong.

Hi Guyz, I don't know if WurliTzer and Seeburg 200 wall boxes used the same "pulse train". or not. IF the pulse train is not the same, is the WurliTzer stepper "adjustable", or is a different number stepper required ? Just listening to it, and the voice description, tells me the transfer from step wheel #1, to step wheel 2, is not happening. Ron Rich

Yes I think the pulse trains are the same but what I'm not sure about is whether Charles' Wurlitzer has B1 as the flip of A1, so the wallbox ident strips might require to be changed - which would be the least of his worries! Edit, looking at pictures on Jukebox World archive, A2 is the flip of A1 on a W3000 so title strip idents on the 3WA would require modifying.

Hi Guys, Really appreciate all the comments and input. My understanding is that it was very common back in the day for Seeburg wallboxes to be used with Wurlitzer jukeboxes and I have heard that there was a difference in the pulse trains in terms of the order of the number / letter pulses and that this required some minor change to the hookup or wiring in the stepper. I have no specifics on this, but am fairly certain that Seeburg wallboxes were often used with Wurlitzers so was hoping that someone might know wiring / set-up changes necessary to have these talk to each other CW

Hi Charles, I'm pretty certain that the pulse trains are compatible, it's AMi that's the particular odd one out in 200 selection wallbox/steppers. I refurbished a 5210 wallbox and Wurlitzer stepper a couple of years or so ago. That wallbox had previously been used on a non Wurlitzer stepper because there were overlays on the title strip idents. When the overlays were carefully removed, the original Wurlitzer idents were underneath. When you made the final 5210 wallbox selection, it was 20 letter pulses followed by 10 number pulses - same as Seeburg.

Hi Norman,
That's great to know! I'll keep tinkering.
Thanks!
