Hi Guys i have been cleaning up a LPC1, removed carriage just to clean and properly oil, removed the selector and de soldered the solenoid and removed it. Cleaned as per FAQ recommendations. Unit had issues with turntable speed and seemed to only select if using s 4. Speed now is fine, tested all tubes they are good, both OA2 tubes have a healthy glow. Now when i select all selections they engage carriage except any selection starting with U or V. So i have improved that area, problem is it scans past selections. I want to do the battery test but want to do it correctly, i have two RCA wires and i know the faq section discusses it. My question is do i touch both rca cables at the same time then reattach or one at a time. Tormat control TCC2 has had lytics replaced and contacts cleaned. I have a second tormat control from a parts unit TTC1 but when i tried it carriage would not move at all just a click in tormat unit, nor sure if its because its an earlier model

Hi Pete, Didn't you purchase a copy of my Seeburg Mechanism Guide from me ? If so please read it-- LOL-- A TCC-1& a TCC-2, are the same electrically-- I'll let you find the physical difference in them--search--It's easy to see ! Ron Rich

Update, i tried the B test while making a selection, I jumped on test socket 1, 6to 14 mechanism tripped, tried C test removed plug from right side pulse amp, touched battery and replaced, made a selection and unit scanned to J then selected record, i pushed reject and the next selection to the right selected, did this again and selection to right selected. i removed rca and replaced and turned off unit. I have an observation and question, first the manual states it will scan after battery test and start with A, mine starts with J, also i switched rca from left to right same thing. Secondly the next test asks for me to jump and use test socket 2, then use seeburg test lamp, i dont have one, what else can i use ,i have a light tester that goes from 80vlts to 500 ,or i can pick up an auto 12vlt light tester ,or pete

Hi Pete, Sounds like you have a problem with the read out contact block ("frog"). Check the tops of those pins--gorged out ?-- Silver still on them-- Also, check alignment, and the condition, of the detent switch

HI Ron checked out frog, made the mistake of not leaving well enough alone, i had cleaned the pin bank and the top of the pins coming from the frog, when checking distance i noticed the frog was only about an 1/8 from the pin bank. I readjusted to a 1/4 as per specks. I moved it to 3/16 and now selections work. I have two other issues may be related. Firstly the unit is in my garage, the temp here is about 50. When i select the turntable spins at about 7 rpm, also the reject does not work. I have tested tubes. I have a second auto speed from a parts machine and when installed the record doesnt spin at all, just clamps in and all stops. Do you think the cold is causing this to not speed up or any other thoughts. Lastly is there any way for me to test the auto speed unit ? pete

Hi Pete, Once again-- You paid for the copy of my Seeburg Mech Guide--READ it ! Have you properly OILed the drive train-with the correct oil ? To check what's happening-- remove one record and select that space-- block the P contacts with a bit of paper, to prevent them form making contact and allow the motor to run for 5-10 minutes--until hot- remove the paper from the contacts--play a 45-- what happens ? When you say it "won't reject"--waddya mean ? It will not trip off at record's end, or the reject button on the rear, is not operating ? Which Amplifier (CODE letter too !) is installed in that phono ? Ron Rich

Hi Ron, Mech was oiled using 3in1 20, before oiling i cleaned every part i could reach with a water based degreaser and tooth brush, then let dry for a few days. Oiling was done as per manual making sure i got into all of the clutch areas. I turned on the unit ,selected an empty slot and let it start the play, motor ran very slow, then i stopped play using service switch, then i put paper between the p contact and restarted, immediately turntable moved much quicker, i let it run for ten minutes, removed paper and made a selection, record spun as it should. As far as the amp i have a TSA1 code E but it is not installed as of yet. When i say the reject wont work i mean the button on the rear and at end of play, at end of pay i tried to move the switch to see if it would reject, no luck, I used my analog meter, put a probe on each contact point where the switch is wired and did not get continuity, then removed one of the wires to the switch, put a probe on that wire and a probe on the wire still connected, moved the switch and got continuity.

Seems i may have screwed up again, after reading info on the unit i find if i am correct the amplifier needs to be installed for the reject to work, i will install it later today, i was trying to get all bugs out before installing. pete

Ok verified, no amp no reject. also i found even after letting unit run for a while still too slow. I used my heat gun and heated up carriage area, after a few minutes i heard clicks in the auto speed unit, then after about two minutes it clicked in and speed was perfect. Conclusion it needs to be warmer that 60 to work properly. I find everything now works except for a few selection letters and i have a hum coming out of the left side bass, volume doesnt affect it so im thinking amp issue, it has all new caps so i will need to check grounding or defective cap. pete

Hi Pete, WHAT "3inOne oil" didja you use ? Attza whyut the Guide says-- starting with the LPC-1, the AMP controls the trip-off, cancel operations -- The "clicks" you heard in the AS may have been from the paper you stuck on the "P" contact-- see if that's clean-- it adds power to the control relay in the AS-- Hummmm ? You'll need to track that down ? Ron Rich

Hi Pete, Hopefully it's the "motor oil"--newer cans are black-- Anyway, you will need to remove and clean that motor of whatever is in it--re-oil and re assemble it-- See the Guide. Ron Rich
