Hello, i have a Seeburg firestar that is not able to make several selections. I have a original manual and did most of the usual test and tips. Selection 100 (with DES buttons) for example is fine, selection 133 does not work, selection 144 takes 100, many more do not work. For example: I cleaned the DES selector inside and outside contacts. I did the battery test with the tormat RCA plug and the mech took every record a/b side. I tried the test with the wire lead at the bleu plug and some selections work others don't. Same for the test with the wire lead at the green plug.
I bought (as is untested parts) a extra DES, gray box, black box..... Swapping these parts does not change a thing...
Could the problem be in the DCC? I cleaned the fingerprint contacts from the boards inside the DCC also.
Any tips/help is welcome, thanks.

Please read the "Hi Newbies" post inn our FAQ's section--- Do you have the USC-1 Service Manual, or a copy of my MicroLog Trouble Shooting Guide ? What "usual tests" did you do ? The "battery test" has no bearing on this problem ! Does, by any chance, this phono have black colored plugs, on either the DES, or DRD-1 ? Ron Rich

OK-- what are you doing with them ? Also-- if you do not answer my question(s), I can't help you ! Ron Rich Sorry for skipping the last question about the plugs.... They are white. As told, i cleaned all contacts noticed in the manuals. I cleaned all fingerprints, tormat, tormatblock has been set properly. Did a test on the blue plug by scraping a wire on pin 4-5-6-7 some selections worked fine, some did not. Mostly the ones with a 3 in it or 5 in it. Did a test with green plug by scraokng a wire on pin 4-5-6-7 same, some work some do not. Did the battery test on the tormatplug, it took all selections fine. If more info is needed, please let me know. Kind regards.

Hi Didier, Look at the USC-1 Service Manual, or version 2, of my Seeburg MicroLog trouble shooting guide-- --Look for the "Quadrabit chart". Using this chart, and the schematic, you can pin down the wire not making contact between the DRD and the DCC's interface board-- I am almost positive you have an open wire (bad crimp). Ron Rich

Hi Didier, You also should be able to determine this with the scratch test-- the one that does not work is the wire in question-- Ron Rich

Ok, at this moment i already checked (with a multimeter) a lot of wiring but they where al good. Still some left. I will perform the scratch test again and make exact notes this time and let you know the exact selections it makes. Thanks, Didier.

Hello Ron, i checked for bad wiring with multimeter, all seemed fine.
I checked the white plugs inside DCC at the prints, cleaned the connectors with glass fibre brush and make them get more connection by plying them a litlle closer. They are hard to snap in so i assume they should make good contact at the fingerprints.
Did the same for the other white plugs at black an grey box.
Did the selection test and i still have selection problem at: Selection 133 does nothing, i do not hear the click inside the DCC Same for all other selections with a number3 Selection 144 trips 100 Selection 155 trips 122 Selection 166 trips 111
Selection 255 trips 222 Selection 266 trips 211
Scratchtest at green plug DCC: Nr4 trips none Nr5 trips 222 Nr6 trips 111 Nr7 trips 100
Scratchtest at blue plug DCC: Nr4 trips 233 Nr5 trips 222 Nr6 trips 111 Nr7 trips 100
Checked wiring for green plug DCC nr4 is ok, goes to black box and inside DCC to print is also ok.
What would you think about? Print inside DCC Defective?
Kind regards, Didier.

Hi Didier, Have you checked the 311134 board in the DCC ? Using the quadrobit chart, you can see that 3 uses the A data line-- check that wire with a meter (Power off!) Ron Rich

Hello Ron i did check that, 3 should be wire nr18 at the white plug for board 311134. Connection is fine. Guess it will be a defective 311134 board....
Thanks Didier

Hi Didier, Didn't you post that you changed DCC's ?? If not-- look for a twisted transistor on that board-- if not found, look at that data line's transistors-- that's about all I have ever found wrong on them-- Other then a poor connection at the plug-- Ron Rich
