This LPC-1R lights up, select any single message, making a selection results in a loud clunk-like it is recognizing the buttons, release button also make a clunk sound, but the record carriage stays on the left side and doesn't traverse or scan. The motor does run, but sometimes I have to give it a little help to get rolling. Where should I start? The owner says it did work when it was stored(didn't they all?). Any advice would be appreciated ! Thank You.

What does it do when the motor is running? If nothing, I'd look at the rubber motor coupler. Is the mech in play or scan position? If it's been sitting for a long time it will need some lubrication.

Is the mechanism jammed on the left side--is the turntable moving ? Are the "O" contacts open or closed ( can you see them--is the mech cover on or off the mech) ? DO NOT leave this powered up in this condition ! do not make any attempt to remove the mech cover-yet, if still there !! Yes-- at "one time", it did,in fact, work ! Is this still a LPC-1R ? Ron Rich

Not sure where or what the play or scan position is or how to tell... the turn table does move, not sure where or where the O contacts are. This is a LPC-1R. If I had to make a diagnosis, the vertical shaft/gearing system clutch is not moving up or down to drive the record rack. Looks like it is in neutral waiting for the aluminum clutch "spool" to move either up or down to grab the rack mover rack gear.

If you do not answer questions, we can't help you ! Did you read our "Hi Newbies" post in our FAQ's section ? BTW the clutch member is not "aluminum"--it's "zemac", but you are probably correct in your diagnosis, as far as you went. Ron Rich

Did now read the FAQ. This is a LPC-1R. The mechanism is "stuck" on the left side. Not sure about the "O" contacts, though.
