The humming after investigation came from the counter, i assume its stuck , i disabled it for now no change, The read out i thought may be part of the issue, non stop scan but also i cannot select a record, the solenoid engages with the first button and releases with the second. I am trying to understand the unit but still havnt found the exact sequence of the twice scan and stop, everything in the manual tells me the issue should be in the subtract switch, i dont think i have one with the free unit. The manual also refers to RO contacts LS,RS as areas that can cause the carriage to scan past records but you made it clear it is not these. Ive looked at the clutch, trip mechanism, I will need to find the play control switch and see if doent open, i just dont understand why on serivce it scans twice and stops.

Pet, ASSume NOTHING--This is, in no way a "Read-out" problem ! Plug the FPA into the TSU without the TES plugged into the FPA--L@ k at the TES to FPA plug- Is the index key, still there, or has it been broken off ? Does the mech stop with that plug removed from the FPA, and the service switch in "play mode" ? Ron Rich

I reconnected the old credit unit and replaced the jumpers in the selector from D back to S, the unit works as it should, i can select songs and carriage scans twice then stops. So when the jumpers are on D even if i remove the free credit unit it continuously scans, what your thought on this.

Hi Ron i dont know why but when i wrote the post above this one, your post was not visible and it was 30 minutes earlier. I found the problem ,its in the board/connector not sure what its called that houses the D and S pins in the selector, After trying the old credit union and getting success ,i decided to re install the free credit ,i moved the pins back to D restarted the unit and scanning started again, i moved the wires and the connection board and was able to get the scanning to stop, then i tried a record it worked. I will need to spend some time with the connections and the solder joints there, also look closer to see if a wire is bare and maybe shorting. Its definitely in that area.

Hi Pete, We are aware, that there is seemingly a "problem in the cloud" with posts sticking there-- It's supposedly "being worked on---" Why are you moving the jumpers? on the TES ? You failed to mention that to me Set them back in the correct position, and "fergett-it" ! Ron Rich EDIT: The explanation for the ""D" & "S" jumper positions, can be found in the Seeburg printed "Installation & Operation Manual" ( "I & O" Manual) ---READ, TF(I&O) M !!!! Ron Rich

Ron you have forgotten, when i received the free play unit you told me the jumpers has to move from S to D on the selector unit, i never said TES or is that what it is called, to make it work, I have a TSU1 code 5 unit. If i do not move from S to D it will not work, also the manuals do not discuss this because Seeburg didn't sell free play units at the time the jukebox was made.

Hi Pete, Glad it's working---however,
Nope I did not "forget" this - I told you at that time, that you -- MAY -- need to move the jumpers on the TES (Seeburg's name for the "keyboard"--RTFM !!) IF, it did not work ! You told me it worked for the last few months at the start of this discussion ! No there never was a Seeburg "Free Play unit", for ANY Seeburg--READ our FAQ's "Hi Newbies" post ! The "jumpers" in the TES are covered in the I & O Manual, as well as the Service Manual for your phono--READ--READ--READ ! Ron Rich

Yes i was stating it worked fine in the D position the last few months, i assumed my old credit unit would need to go back to S. That why i moved the jumpers, lucky i did i would never have found this broken piece. I read alot more than you give me credit for, I am not trying to cause friction with you and always appreciate your knowledge and assistance.
