Hi Ron I purchased the credit box/relay for my unit to be on free play without leaving solenoid energized. It has worked flawlessly for the last 5 months. Today when i turned on the unit the scanning operation started by itself , now will not stop, even if i select a song it just never goes back to home position. I have the manual and your books and will see if i can find the issue, just confirming it cant be an issue with the credit box. thanks pete

Hi Pete, Yes-- it can be--but I doubt it is-- just un-plug it from the TSU, to check if that's causing the problem--Ron Rich

I just pulled out the connector and still scans, I read through your micro log and the manual, there is no reference or trouble shoot for continuance scan and never stop, most of the procedures are for missing selections, scanning twice and resting, mine does not rest and starts scanning at power up. I pulled up the lever to play a song and it played and returned no issue but again just keeps scanning, checked frog wires and alignment looks good, selecting still engages solenoid but no affect.

Hi Pete, The "MicroLog Trouble Shooting Guide' does not pertain to an AY model phono, as it's NOT a "MicroLog" model! It pertains only to the models shown on it's cover ! What you want to read is the factory service manual/trouble shooting guide, and my "Seeburg Mechanism Guide", in order to understand what's happening. Ron Rich

Sorry i have both of your books, i have looked through your mechanism and the trouble shooting guide, the problem is the trouble shooting guide only has one reference to continuance scan and that refers to the service notes. It states the issue is either the subtract switch fails to close or open. With the credit unit in operation is there still a subtract switch. pete

I will treat it as a unit that scans past songs, check the reverse switch and the RO contacts, i know the frog wires are intact. Ive just never seen a carriage not go back to resting.

Hi Pete, I guess our posts are passing each other in "the cloud"-- read what I last posted-- Also - This is somewhat covered in the "Mechanism Guide", very near the first few pages, in the "selection systems overview". Ron Rich

Hi again, Pete, Please help me do a board check--did you, or did you not "delete" a post just now ? Reason for my question is I show a post as incoming but can't see/read it here ! Thanks, Ron Rich

No Ron I never delete posts but i sometimes edit to add something. I dont know why but sometimes i answer questions then next time i log in i see a post from earlier that was not visible. I will reread your guide page by page try and understand the carriage better.

OK-thanks !--Here's the part of it, I got in my email--
"I will treat it as a unit that scans past songs, check the reverse switch and the RO contacts, i know the frog wires are intact. Ive just never seen a carriage not go back to resting.---"
Do you understand --the "MicroLog Trouble Shooting Guide" should NOT be used to trouble shoot the AY model phono, as its NOT a MicroLog model !
Also--FYI the reversing switch, nor the RO contacts, nor the frog contacts, have any bearing on this problem. Ron Rich

Hi Pete Suggestion-- Since you say you have the "books" I suggest you stop and READ them-"having them", without knowing what's in them, does nobody, any good ! Start with the Seeburg printed "Installation and Operation ( "I & O")" Manual, the Seeburg printed "Parts Catalog" so you understand what parts go where, the Seeburg printed, correct Service Manual, as a reference, and my "Seeburg Mechanism Guide"--which I intended to be read from at least the "forward" thru to at least your model description-- read further descriptions, if you are interested on how the phono changed--then finish the rest of the guide. I have and will keep rereading to try and understand the sequences, maybe i will find this in the manuals i have. My issue may not be a standard issue, when i start the unit it scans non stop, at the same time there is a strong hum coming it seems from the counter. If i just put it on service and use scan it will travel twice and return to home, as soon as i switch service switch to play , the humming starts. Is this at least normal. I have no issue with removing the selector and washing as per your listed instruction in the FAQ section.

Photo attached showing how it is plugged in, its only sitting there for the photo. I do notice without it connected no humming at counter or near but scan still wont stop. ps it worked perfectly for 3-5 months

Hi Ron just to see what would happen while the carriage was continuously scanning, i removed the RCA ,grounded the battery, touched the tip and re inserted, Immediately the carriage stopped and selected a record, i rejected and it kept playing in order, i removed the RCA so it would stop playing records then re inserted, unit went back to continuous scan.
