Hi all, I am not very familiar with working on Wurlitzer boxes. Majority of my time has been spent learning and repairing my Seeburg mechs. However, I recently acquired a Wurlitzer 3000 in very nice condition and about 99 percent functional and would like to do a restoration on this nice little box. Will be re-capping and lubricating BUT before I get started, I wanted to address (what seems to me like) a small issue with the mechanism.
Credit registers correctly, selection keys latch, selection pin pops up, and carousel advances to the correct selection, record is delivered to turntable and plays correctly. HOWEVER, the arm that rotates to the selected pin seems to have a hard time PUSHING THE PIN DOWN TO CANCEL THE SELECTION. In other words, it looks like the downward pressure of the arm as it is trying to reset the pin appears WEAK. It does not depress the pin fully and it does not return fully to clear the pin it is trying to cancel. If I help depress and then lift the arm back away to clear the pin it is trying to delete, everything is fine and after record completes, selector is off to scan for the next selected pin. I have to imagine this issue is a simple function of the mech needing a good lube however I was wondering if this issue could also be a weak solenoid somewhere or some other issue.
As I said, I am not that familiar with the Wurlitzer mech. so any direction would be greatly appreciated. THANKS!

Going from my great--but not too long memory-- The service manual covers this ! I would first RTFM-- then check out the above "sticky" on the back stop pawls-- be sure they are working correctly-- then the crank arm-- it should be "spring loaded" so it does NOT 'jam" against the selected pin ! Oil is un-doubtedly a factor here-- Look down below the "fan" on the top of the mech shelf-- put the "Load lever" into the "load position"--use a flash light to peer into he enter of the record basket and spin the basket-- You will see several "holes" in it-- on one, it will align with an even lower hole-which will usually appear to be red in color--Saturate this with oil (see the FAQ's "sticky" !!). Wait a few minutes and re-oil it ! If all of that does not help- I would need to assume that either the "stopping switch" is bad, or, "someone" has "tweaked" the adjustment of that switch-- HTH Ron Rich
