Seeburg ss 160 Select O Matic write in Read out issue

Hi all,
My ss 160 is scanning 2x, not selecting. Did the 'battery trick and a selection was made. I'm told this indicates a write in/read out problem.
What might my next step be in repairing this. Where should I be looking?

Well, the service manual, or the trouble shooting guide might help ? Or even my "Seeburg Mechanism Guide"--Gottem ? I sure would not look to the person that told you it "---indicates a write in/read out problem"--- ! Ron Rich
