Hi, I was playing my vinyl jukebox Rowe- AMI RI-4 today, it was ok then all of a sudden there was a real screeching sound and nothing else. no music just this continuous screeching, turned it off for a while then turned it back on and screeching started straight away again, the noise is so bad that you can’t leave it on for too long to see what it is or where it is coming from. ( sounds like a fire alarm ) haha. I’m am new to all this so any help would be very much appreciated. Thanks

I ASSUME the sound is coming from the speakers ?? If so, and it's happening without a record playing, I hope you are lucky, and it's a tube--possibly only the tube's connections-- re-seat all of them, see if that stops it ? Ron Rich

RI4 has a transistor amp model # 6-09189-02; RI1 still had the tube amp or hybrid amp tube end stage transistor preamp. TI2 was the last machine with a tube amp.
My second question would be if the sound is coming from the speakers was the amplifier ever serviced, fresh capacitors, checked for bad resistors etc. After 40 years most parts inside the amplifier will have passed their service life.

Hi, thanks for reply’s,( Ron rich) (Marcel bogert) have try jukebox again the mechanism all works still, it’s like you both said it looks like a problem with the amplifier 🙄
