Hey Guys! The SHP 3 code C amp failed in my disco jukebox : ( so no sound. A few years ago I replaced all Lytic capacitors and the 4 one watt resistors w flameproof so it has been working good until now. Fuses are ok. Visually nothing burn or unusual. Going to start checking voltages per Tony's guide but think what I really need to do at this point is continue rebuilding by replacing all Transistors.
I have 2 sets of beta matched Output Transistors 2N3055 so good to go there.
My question: Is it "relevant or beneficial" to beta match the driver TIP 31C and 32C? or the 2N2222"s on the board?
Are there other components I should replace whilst I am in there sucking solder off the boards?
Also, I swapped out the amp in the SMC1 jukebox with another working SHP-3 so I have the issue narrowed down to the amp.
Thanks - Mark

Hi Mark, No need to do that--also, I don't replace "all transistors"- seldom is there a failure in the originals-- What is a common failure are the darn bias pots-- they intermittently loose contact--I do replace them ! Also, When using a SHP or any Seeburg amp in any SMC model-- be sure to modify the "pull tab" on the chassis ! Ron Rich

the few I fixed were difficult, the worst a thermally intermittent base internal connection, made re capping a SHFA-1 seem easy. after my pal with the well stocked repair bench passed, I sent my last one to a pro.
